Why has Thurman's stock fallen?

When you call out Mayweather and Pacquiao and end up fighting Guerrero and Collazo and don't look good doing it people tend to call you on your BS.Comment

Thurman seemed to have hit a point where his progression stalled and skill wise, he appeared to plateau. He was looking steady and sharp up until he fought Chaves. He got touched more in that fight than he did in the past, and he fought very smart and earned a nice stoppage win. His next fight with Soto-Karass was also a good showing. But from there, he seemed to regress and he wasn't as sharp. I don't know if he needs a change of location or a what. Birmingham is a good coach and all, but I wonder if he needs a new trainer to take him to another level as well. Something needs to change with him IMO.
It was evident with Guerrero. Thurman put a hurting on him, but he couldn't switch up gears and get him out of there. I feel the Thurman of 2-3 years ago would have got Guerrero out of there.Comment

Because, and this is true of all boxers on all networks in all countries, if your career stops moving forward then people start hating.
His career has stagnated badly since he beat Chavez and Soto Karass. He's been treading water (Guerrero is about level with those two, but no better). Suddenly all those boasts about him beating x or y fighter look dumb because he isnt fighting the competition to back it up, and fans are going to pick up on that.
GGG is in the same situation, Brook too, even Chocolatito too an extent. When there careers were progressing and their opponents were getting better fight by fight, people get caught up in the momentum. When the momentum stops for whatever reason, all the guys who have been waiting to hate, suddenly get much more vocal.Comment
