Povetkin is vastly overrated

But the height and length is the relevant measure here. Weight is not as important to Wilder because he's more likely to back out of range than clutch and grab a la Klit..Comment

His knockouts of Charr, Takam and Perez led people to overrate him a little, I feel. The Wach fight showed he still has some problems with taller fighters and Wlad proved that he could be shut down in the clinch.
He's a damned good fighter against fighters his own size who aren't afraid to come to him, but taller fighters who can keep him from getting in range seem to be his kryptonite.Comment

Yeah he's just a tad small for the modern HW division. Give him a guy roughly his size and he's a problem. Anyone bigger than him gives him tons of problems..His knockouts of Charr, Takam and Perez led people to overrate him a little, I feel. The Wach fight showed he still has some problems with taller fighters and Wlad proved that he could be shut down in the clinch.

I'm just pointing out that despite their similarities in height, they're both built quite different. But I get your point.Comment

I think people are way overlooking Wilder in this matchup. I get why Povetkin is favored, and I think I'm favoring him too, but I will not be the least bit surprised if Wilder wins.Comment

After wilder loses, I don't want to hear ****. Didn't Floyd say "real skills" win fights? I believe uncle roger and Sr. say the same thing.
Also, the more realistic thing that'll happen is all the people who love wilder now, on April 18, 2016, will either one, go into hiding like brushmyhair after the Super Bowl, or two, say wilder wasn't that good to begin with. It'll happen. Anyone who has any time on this site knows this is a recurring theme.Comment
