Canelo fought Lara (a fight which did nothing for him and was very risky) and lost to Mayweather but did a lot of maturing after that fight.
Would have liked to have seen Genady actually go after fights like Ward and not just talk about it. Go after Ramirez. Even Lara, who is smaller but would at least present a challenge. Don't just mention a lot of names, pick the safest one, and pretend no one wants to fight you.
    Great post.

I'm a big GGG fan, but I have to rate him a "really good", not great, middleweight until he tests himself more against more challenging opposition (Ramirez, Lara, Canelo).

Lara isn't a middleweight, Ramirez isn't a middleweight and Canelo is a coward hiding down in his catchweight limits explain to me how fighting a guy who has picked on smaller guys his entire career is worthy of finally rating him as great and yes I'm talking about Canelo.

GGG hate threads expose the morons. If you watch boxing and don't believe Golovkin is a special talent, then you are an idiot, really.

His ducking of Andre Ward really damaged his rep. The boogeyman
rep is over. Trying to rekindle it is like trying to sell us used condoms.

This guy is getting to the age where most greats are starting to wind down their careers.

I just don't see this dude as anything special, he reminds me of Ottke, or Arthur Abraham (prior to the super 6)

What's the point here? Martinez passed. Sturm passed. Quillen passed. Cotto passed. Canelo passed. Saunders passed. Jacobs passed. You can't beat a fighter who won't step into the ring with you. GGG has at least 3 or 4 good years left. Plenty of time. Once he's unified champ, all roads lead to him.

How many prospects have 21 KOs in a row? How many prospects have successfully defended their world title 15 times and won all defenses by KO? How many prospects have KOed a reigning champion as he did last fight by KOing fellow champion Lemieux. How many prospects have KOed at least 9 boxers who were rated in the top 10 in the world in their weight class? How many prospects have most of the top fighters in their weight class scared to fight them? How many prospects are rated in the top 5 best pound for pound boxers in the world by Ring, ESPN, Boxing Scene, HBO Boxrec and every other place of importance who rank boxers? The answer is no prospect and very few world champions have a resume that can equal the resume of GGG. You hate him for some unknown reason. You are an ignorant fool on boxing to make such a statement and you don't know what you are talking about. I dare you to name a single middleweight fighting today who could beat GGG and would be favored to win. Not light heavyweight Ward but a middleweight. Go ahead and make yourself look even more foolish.
Ever get tired of making excuses for a fighter that refuses to challenge himself?

i think it has been established that his resume is pretty good... but its not great. As far as any single division world champions its probably one of the best out there.

No prospect can go through his resume (or equivalent) the way he did. the same people who **** on his resume seem to be very quiet about Wilder's resume, yet Wilder's next fight in povetkin is an equivalent to Gael... if GGG fought guys like Duphas, Molina, Szpiilka he dispatch of them very quickly.
First and foremost, g strings resume is not "pretty good". It's garbage.

To make your case you use Wilder as a measuring stick? Major league difference, no one has Wilder in their top ten p4p. Wilders resume lately is garbage too, but with a win over Stiverne, his resume is on par with g string, if he beats Povetkin, his resume is better.
