These people are hustlers and extortionists

    6-9-2015
Promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, who handles the career of WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs), is always looking to secure the biggest fight possible for his rising superstar. In the last few weeks, Loeffler was attempted to get Golovkin in the ring with top super middleweight star Carl Froch of Nottingham. Golovkin was willing to move up to 168-pounds and also had no issue with facing Froch on UK soil.

Loeffler says his boxer is only interested in moving up to super middleweight if there is a major fight on the table, preferably a pay-per-view attraction.

"There is no question that James had a great performance [with Andre Dirrell]. He just won the title. And he's a great champion. But he's not on the same level, marketability wise, as Carl Froch. It just depends. It certainly wouldn't be a pay-per-view fight over here, Froch would be a pay-per-view fight in the states. So that's a big difference. Loeffler told BoxingScene.com.

Gennady Golovkin’s promoter has learned well that finding an opponent for a middleweight champion who’s knocked out 21 consecutive opponents is not an easy task.

Loeffler said after attending the Ramirez fight that he’s under the impression Arum will schedule a title defense against someone else around the summer, then move to fight Golovkin for the super-middleweight belt if the Alvarez-Khan winner or Saunders balk at Golovkin.

The move to 168 pounds would be temporary for Golovkin, said Loeffler, followed by a return to middleweight.

If the Alvarez-Khan winner doesn’t agree to begin negotiations with Golovkin 15 days after the fight at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, then Golovkin gains the WBC middleweight belt.

“If Canelo or Saunders won’t fight, Ramirez is the best option.… I’ve learned with Gennady I need a Plan A, B and C … so we can get a date,” Loeffler said. “Ramirez would be the biggest fighter [at nearly 6-foot-2] that Gennady has fought. He has a following and gained new fans Saturday night. It’d be a huge event, to combine that with the momentum and energy Gennady has. Gennady just needs to win April 23.”
I keep telling ya'll. These people are trying to hustle boxing fans. Not GGG. It's his people around him. The buck does stop with him but I think he's getting bad advice. He needs a better manager or "advisor".

He's selling out in major arenas, getting millions in step aside fees, and millions in purses. His management is fine. That being said his match making leaves a lot to be desired. So from a fans perspective his management does suck because he has meaningless fights. But from a business perspective it's on point.

Some of you people sound like casuals. Since when does promoter/manager talk mean anything?

How long can that last? Even his fans are starting to wake up and smell the BS. Turning down DeGale because he isn't marketable but fight Ramirez who is less known than Degale is BS. You can only hustle people for so long before they realize they're being fed BS.

I don't see that at all. He's fighting a virtual unknown in Wade and the venue is sold out. There's a sucker born every minute. For all the people who are tired of his poor opposition and moved on, there 10 new people who just found out about him and love how he fights. Hell even someone like me, who is really sick of his opposition, will still watch his fights and if I had the chance I'd pay to see him live. Some fighters are just must see no matter who they're fighting.

I think you're overestimating people's intelligence. Most people aren't very bright and are easily swayed. Look at the ******ity that is Popular in our society.

They have said, time and time again, if they can't get the unification fights and win all the belts, they will move up. The balls in Canelo/Khan and BJS court. GGG can only do so much. Admittedly he could have fought someone better than Wade lol

If those fights don't happen, then GGG will move up. What's the problem here? It's not likely he's fighting bums and trying to sell it as ppv.

Read what I posted. Loeffler said the reason for not fighting DeGale is because they only want to go up for a big fight. It's right there! Right out of his own mouth after DeGale said he'd fight GGG. But now they're saying they'll go up for Ramirez who isn't a big name at all and judging by the number of PPV buys Manny got not many people watched him.

The DeGale fight was dismissed right away but they'll entertain Ramirez even though he's less known than DeGale.
