Yeah that's a little silly. Buster Douglas got up at like 9.5 versus Tyson. Can you imagine if he waved it off because he wasn't up at 8? Lol ref is a clown. That being said he had no shot. The guy is not even a top 20 hw.

Firstly Martin was given a long count and it's at least 12 seconds if you time it....secondly he was just on his way up and it reached 10 and lastly Martin knew he was outgunned and had no chance and he was intimidated from the very start of the fight.....

What a daft thing to say.

Martin was just lacking in the tools to do anything.

Martin had been fighting low level fighters, Joshua was a huge step up in class.

The sky commentator mentioned Aerrola's name, Haye butted in and said that wouldn't last as long as this one.

              Man come on.
I don't think Martin had more than a round in him & probably more like seconds remaining not 5 or 6 rounds to "try". I don't think Martin gains much by continuing & I think he potentially risks a lot in a position where he's already down by 4 points, has shown nothing that can keep Joshua honest & he's had his bell ring twice by punches that didn't even seem like some of the bigger punches Joshua can land. Continuing was a losing proposition.

Would I prefer everyone go balls to the wall? Sure of course. I loved Diego Corrales. Who didn't love Gatti fights? Am I or are most people gonna help a guy & his family out when he gets Magomad'd or McClellan'd? Nope most won't be. Martin took the risk already, he wasn't showing anything that suggested this fight was winnable. Why does anyone need to see him KTFO if he's in too deep if he wasn't seeing this as a winnable fight either? I can't think of anything except entertainment value from a fans POV, but I can understand a boxer not giving a f#ck about fans entertainment value when they are risking severe injury & death by competing in a dangerous sport like boxing & seem clearly in a losing situation.

And I can understand your angle with "letting down the fans", but the reality is sometimes the movie sucks, it rains during the baseball game or the basketball game ends 120-72. There is always a risk for fans that an event doesn't live up to the hype & there is no requirement to take a certain amount of punishment or give a certain amount of entertainment before its okay to quit.

I also tend to think these situations work themselves out naturally as it has a negative impact when a guy does quit or gives the impression of quitting & fans won't be so quick to go to the next Martin fight. Martin made his decision (assuming he did) to quit & now there is a market correction to his value in the sport of boxing by doing so. It is what it is.

He's right. This bullshit where fighters get up at 10 and act like they've been wronged has got to stop.

Martin was never going to beat Joshua, but he certainly could have lost in a far less humiliating fashion. I mean at least last like 4-5 rounds by gluing your glove to your left cheek

                      Hardly.

                      One of the hottest divisions.

Martin's performance was disgraceful, but that doesn't mean the division isn't hoppin and poppin.
