You have 9.9999999 seconds to be on your feet.....

So why did the ref tell him to be on his feet by 8?

If Martin really thought the ref stopped the fight too early and he could've continued, why did he raise Joshua's hand when Michael Buffer announced the decision?
Is that not an acknowledgement of the legitimate winner?

And if that is the case I can't hate on Martin too much. Guys get criticized for "quitting" before you take your full a$$ beating, but f#ck that noise. I contend boxing can be such a dangerous sport that if a guy feels he doesn't have any chance to win or at least enough of a chance to win vs the potential unnecessary damage he could take that it should be more accepted by fans to quit.

I think its obvious with hindsight (& some had foresight) Martin was unprepared for the situation he was in. Whats the point in taking more shots to the head when you are in over your head like he was? I say there isn't one.
Man at least try to last for five or six rounds man. People bought plain, train, and bus tickets, people booked expensive hotels for the weekend, people payed hefty seat tickets, people took their time and money to travel from all over brittain and the rest of the world to see this match-up, and you go in there and quit in two rounds?

        Man come on.

That's not quite true, I suggest you read the article as it mentions the ref telling both fighters to be on their feet by 8 and ready to fight by ten.

The ref effectively gave him way more whilst he moved Joshua, was shouting and signalling 8, 9 to Martin whom was still in no rush to get to his feet.

Because he suppost to be a prize FIGHTER not a statistical analysis. Its simple really if you dont want to get hurt dont get into the sport of professional boxing. A fighters heart is whats suppost set him apart froma an ordinary man. The averge man would continue to fight with broken rips, fractured jaw, ripped tougue or any of the other horrible injuries fighters have encountered in the ring. Its like a game **** these men are suppost to be a total different breed. Martin showed no heart and direspectwd the sport by smiling then making an act of trying to be the count, pathetic

I just watched this video on Sky Sports of Joseph Parker and his trainer reacting to the fight, listen to the trainer after the second count: starts at 00:31

He was just out of his depth. Just like the bookies stated from the very beginning.

10 to 1 to start with, Martin was backed down to 7 to 2.

He was open to a right from a taller fighter. I bloody saw it from watching half a dozen of Martin's fights.

Clearly Joshua's team spotted this and made a plan for it.

I agree 100% with you, I watched on my DVR about 4 or 5 times and to me it looks like he took a serious dive. From what I read Martin made about 5million, so I wouldn't be surprised if he took a dive.

that's what I'm talking about... no such rule in boxing that you MUST be on your feet by the count of 8. The rule is that you have to beat the count of 10.

I disagree. Sure you are accepting that you could be severely injured or even killed in the ring, but who the f#ck wants to get hurt, in particular if its unnecessary? I think its silly to think a boxer has to take an a$$beating or get legit knocked out to accept they are in an unwinnable situation. Thats some dated caveman type stance & I say this a caveman type thinking mfer about many things, but I do realize that caveman attitude is a dying attitude even in most mens minds nowadays & in some cases more importantly is extremely counterproductive to ones life.
