If thats the case I'm with Martin. The ref should have let it continue. Having said that I don't think it'd have made a lick of difference with Martin's offensive effort, his defensive effort & Joshua's arsenal & confidence at that point in the fight so it doesn't really matter. Martin just got saved from taking some unnecessary shots to the head for a the same result (KO by 2) or similar result (maybe he makes it to the 3rd).

The count was barely at 9, if that. But yeah, unless Martin had gotten his timing going better, he was in for some more damage. But no matter, Martin should have been given more of a chance. He was the champ, no matter whether he was considered a bogus champ by some or not.

You're assuming. Nothing more. I give the guy the benefit of the doubt, just like you'd expect if you were in there fighting.

Once again the Brits buy another title.

I submit the first fall - Charles Martin knows the rules ; If a knee is down he must be given a full ten count also he is making eye contact with the ref letting him know he is fine - the first fall was legit but the second one landed on the shoulder you can even see Martin laughing it off....I dont have more to say....this is not how you beat a champion...shame on the Brits.

I agree they robbed a true american.

It was like watching a sequel to Mel Gibsons "the patriot"

That's basically what happened in the GGG/Monroe Jr fight. Monroe moved into a position to pop up at 9, and then didn't actually stand up straight until the ref was already saying 10. The ref offered him a chance to continue anyway, but then Monroe said he was done. It seemed clear to me that Monroe Jr was hoping to get counted out in the same way Martin was.

            Good look on the video

If that would have happened again, I think the ref would have stopped it

Martin didn't like what was happening, knew he had no chance therefore stayed down and tried to play it off. Point and period
He was 1/2 second late - that was it. It's the same as DUI - your reaction time is off, you think you can do more than you can in that situation.

So it's like boxing 101 - you may feel that you can spring to your feet in a 1/2 second - and as a fit athlete you normally can - but having just been concussed your timing is off. So if you find yourself being counted out and you want to continue, take the decision to stand up when you hear 7. Your legs probably won't obey your mind to 7.5 or 8. Leaving you 2 to 2.5 seconds to stand up and give the ref your hands and look him in the eye.

I think you are in a minority among even other American posters. Get out of here with that crap and while you are at it tell Thurman to man up and respond to the Brook challenge like he responded to the Spence challenge

He'll get the benefit of the doubt when he stops trying to fool fan's. It seems his tactic worked on you.

Wow this is disgraceful, I just watch the fight again and there is no doubt, Martin got up as the ref counted 10 and then chose to complain, why fighters do this so often is beyond me. I don't believe he was all that hurt, he just knew it was delaying the inevitable.
