Haymon has killed this sport. He's the guy largely responsible for inflating these purses for his boxers to fight bums. Myself and others have said for years just how detrimental this would be for making better matchups in future, but the bumsniffs wouldn't listen and instead praised him for delivering overpriced mismatches. Other promoters like Arum have followed suit just to try and keep up and now it's come back to bite him on the arse.

Sounds like Crawford is literally following in the footsteps of Mikey Garcia.

TC didn't complain about being overpaid to fight those mismatched 135lbers - Lundy and Jean. Postol is a guy in his own division with a title, he should be jumping for that fight even if it's just a bit more than he was overpaid for his easy fights.

This sport is getting harder and harder to think positive of.

Giving him 1.21 million to fight Lundy was a HORRIBLE idea, considering the budget HBO has to work with. If he was offered anywhere south of 2.5 million for Postol, he's not taking it because he can expect to make 1.3-1.5 fighting anyone. The Lundy fight proved this.

Instead of blaming Crawford, let's blame Arum. EVERYONE expects to get paid more for taking on harder work. If Crawford stayed in the 500k-750k bracket for the circus shows against midgets, that 7 figure payday would be taken quickly.

Arum/HBO are in a tough spot because they have to keep up with the Joneses (Al Haymon). If Crawford isn't happy, he may not stay too long.

PAY UP BOB! Sorry but I'm on the fighters side here just like for Walters vs Loma. If you want big fights these fighters have to be PAID! These are 2 World Champions and it would be a Unification Bout. Both should be Reward Well for stepping up and fighting each other! Give them what they want to make it happen!

Crawford made 1.21 million fighting Lundy. Of course he's gonna want a lot more to fight the best in his division. We need to know what the exact number is.
If that is truly what he got for Lundy, than he does deserve a bit more for unifying titles. He should use that in his argument for more money, that he will have to pay another sanction fee on top of his own title fee. If Arum basically offered him the same amount, he should be asking to negotiate. Can't fault Bud too much here.

You can't pay a guy 1.2M for Lundy who might not even be a top ten guy in many fans minds & not expect to pay a guy a bigger payday for the 2nd best guy or arguably the #1 guy in the division.
                  Exactly my thoughts.

Crawford got $1.21M for a tune up fight against Lundy. A fight that produced very poor ratings for HBO. So he should be very thankful for that.

Now he's getting a reported 7 figure deal, which I would assume is more than $1.21M plus PPV upside and it's against the 2nd best guy in his weight and it's for a belt... But he wants more money?

He had no problem taking a tune up fight for over $1M, but with Postol all of a sudden figures isn't enough? Who does he think he is?

Haymon definitely f**kd up boxing. I think he's doing a scorched earth destruction knowing he won't stay long in the business.
