Crawford made 1.21 million fighting Lundy. Of course he's gonna want a lot more to fight the best in his division. We need to know what the exact number is.
And say what you want about the likes of Manny, Floyd, Cotto etc. They all beat good fighters on the way up before they were demanding big money.
This era is ridiculous. They want the big paydays without proving they deserve it but you can't really blame them when they're getting $1m for beating up factory workers. I certainly wouldn't go to another job where the work is 5x more difficult, for the same money.
Fighters now don't have the hunger to be the best and beat the best because they're already making good money being journeyman. In the past, the desire to be the best and proving it was synonymous with big paydays, it went hand in hand, as it should be.Last edited by deathofaclown; 04-08-2016, 01:03 PM.

Crawford is letting down the guys that said he wouldn't follow the haymon path when it came to making this fight.
I never got the feeling he wanted this fight to be honest. Doesn't mean I don't think he can win, it's a 50/50 fight and it would be his stiffest career challenge... Now is a bad time to grow feathers or dollar bill signs for eyes.

Other promoters like Arum have followed suit just to try and keep up and now it's come back to bite him on the arse.
Haymon inflated the entire market. So that creates a dangerous domino effect other promoters have to overpay for mismatches as well and those fighters see the purses Haymon is giving out for mismatches and now when it's time to make a real 50/50 fight it's virtually impossible because their demands are unrealistic. You can't pay a fighter 1mil to fight a bum and then think he will be ok with 1.5mil to fight a dangerous fight he might lose. Now instead they want 2mil or 3mil for that fight. These fights that are not really mega fights and will not generate enough money for anyone to turn a profit. This overpaying fighters crap can't sustain itself and will cripple the sport.

Damn no wonder Arum is suing Haymon because of his monopoly. Top Rank will lose all of their fighters.

Is he saying that he rather fight people that he has a high percentage of beating than fighting an actual threat?
This is where boxing is going. These guys fighting all these meaningless fights for a bunch of money but the minute that a competitive fight arises all these nonsense excuses arise.
