HBO trying to make Ward vs. Pascal

HBO has been attempting to arrange a split site doubleheader:
Ward vs. Pascal from Oakland, plus
    Kovalev vs. Alvarez, from Montreal.

    Proposed date is June 25.

    Thoughts?

IMO, Ward vs. Pascal is a waste of time. Pascal has one win (a very shaky one, at that) in his last four fights and has no business in the ring with one of the P4P best in the sport.

Kovalev continues to be a man without a home...or at least a man without a home market in which he sells tickets.

In any event, doubtful that Alvarez gives up his mandatory position to the WBC belt and a shot at the lineal title to take on Kovalev for short money, so this one is probably dead in the water.

Kovalev vs. Alvarez is a very important fight as well, since that turd Adonis Stevenson wont fight him.

i think it's a smart fight to make. it gives us a direct point of comparison with kovalev and pascal will bring in a wider audience than any other available opponent. it's just a warm-up, after all

fonfara, alvarez or braehmer are all solid fights for kovalev. i'd have preferred him to face beterbiev in russia, but GYM don't want it

I don't see the harm in doing it like this. Its better Ward be active.

When Ward beats Pascal he automatically becomes a beast. Even though Pascal is more shot than a 70yo Alien.

Man if Stevenson ducks his mandatory Alvarez, this guy can go down as the biggest joke alive. That would make Hopkins, Pascal, and Alvarez that Stevenson has ducked and Kovalev has fought instead.

Man, it's not like Alvarez is anything special either. Why is Stevenson running from him?

Ward vs. Pascal? Not interested. Kovalev has beaten everything out of Pascal. Although TBRB, ESPN, and Boxing Scene still have him in the top 10 at LHW. I'd still rather see Ward-Shabranskyy.
