Haye is a disappointment IMO. Dude has the skills, power, and looks to be a marketable fighter. Yes, he dominated Cruiserweight and won a heavyweight title, but in comparison to what he could have done up to this point, he has definitely not worked up to his potential. His lack of activity, no-show against Wlad, and now his questionable opposition, these are all blemishes on his potentially great career. I do however think he has enough to turn that around and go out on top. Go after and beat the likes of Fury, Wilder, and Joshua...unify and possibly rematch Wlad, then he'd deserve his credit at HW.

Well I do and I can tell you that there was a documentary on Setanta with him and adam booth when Haye was still an amateur and they mentioned it then. So nothing convenient about it, you probably just need to research it a little bit more.I don't recall any retiring before 31 talk until he was ordered to face Chgaev or Povetkin, convenient.
You're hung up on Haye, great, he was a top fighter, unfortunately he had no heart or care in the world for his fan base. You were used, it's guy like you he won't be able to believe his luck he has following and shouting for him at fights and on forums.
Believe what you will.
I mean, chagaev. You're not seriously suggesting Haye in 2010 was worried about having to face that slow, flobby meatpiece who was taking the likes of Kali Meehan and Matt Skelton the distance? Because that's simply just not true.
I'm not hung up on Haye at all. I dislike the fella a lot. I would prefer him to retire straight away and not stinking up the joint with these low level opponents anymore begging guys for a payday.
But I'm also not delusional.Comment

Yes I mean Chagaev, the lineal champion in 2009 and guy who soundly beat the 7'2" Valuev far more convincingly than Haye could or ever did. The guy was able to withstand a beating from a prime years Wladimir Klitschko, yet you think Haye could out point or stop him, laughable. We're not talking about the same guy Lucas Browne just used PEDs to beat in the twilight of his career, we're talking about a guy who two years later went toe to toe with Povetkin taking five rounds from the Olympic champ on one judge card.
You're not hung up on Haye 'anymore' right ? What happened did he get a non ******ation order on your ass, damn you took that shyt personal.Comment

Has Haye retained his speed, he looks huge lately, his style was based on ambush lightning raids, speed is power right ? How will Haye fair once he stops facing guys on the same level as Audley Harrison without his trademark speed ?
I don't see how you can feel certain Haye stops Joshua, I think it would be quite the opposite personally, no way can Haye be as elusive as he needed to be against Klitschko to avoid further embarrassment than he already heaped on himself. It's embarrassing to suggest Haye is even up there with the likes of Josua, Martin and Parker right now seem as though he has proven relatively squat in his 90 seconds against the guy who learnt boxing through youtube.

No, Haye said before 31 i.e. 30. It was originally 30, then before he turned 31. Which is why he had a retirement presser on his 31st birthday. So my mind is fully made up.You said 30 Haye said 31, which one is it ? Make your mind up.

Haha, I'm sorry but Chagaev was never lineal champion or considered the best or even second best. And the fight against Valuev was absolutely crap. So was Haye's. No matter who did best against Valuev, it obviously had no effect on Haye being "worried" or "scared" because he obviously wasn't. He even said if Klitschko couldn't be made then he'd fight Chagaev - If obviously he could get a permit for his hepatitis. Which he couldn't.
Obviously Haye, the biggest draw in the heavyweight division, wasn't going to Russia to fight Chagaev for pennies.
Where did I take it personal?
Mate, you are seriously unable to have a standard conversation about boxing. It's cringey. I'm just discussing what happened. It's not my fault if you didn't know about Haye before he got into the heavyweight division. But I did.
Right, Povetkin was nowhere near the fighter then as he is now. He was still a "boxer" then, fighting a little bit like an amateur still. I watched all of Povetkin's fights and his style has changed drastically over the years. He wasn't a noted puncher before later in his career.Last edited by LacedUp; 04-08-2016, 04:06 AM.Comment

How many fights has Haye scheduled since he conveniently announced he was retiring the same year he was ordered to face Chagaev or Povetkin, it's laughable. I never heard Chagaev or Povetkin announce they would be retiring when ordered to face each other for vacant WBA strap in 2011, you know why ? Because they don't need to hide behind bs, they fought each other instead.
Name me one fight at heavyweight Haye has fought in where he was not expected to win, or was favourite. His heavyweight career has been poor, that is being fair to him. Had he have fought an overweight Chagaev or Arreola that would have been considered a step up from the opposition he has fought with the exception of Klitschko.
Povetkin has always been a big puncher, if you look who he fought when he had the WBA strap compared to after he lost to Klitschko their is a difference in quality of opposition which in turn has created louder volume upon his victories and also he has never been as well conditioned in his career since Ryabinsky signed him, thus motivating him more. The difference between Haye and Povetkin is Povetkin is prepared to take a risky opponent whilst waiting on his title shot, Haye will not, it has nothing to do with fear or nerves simply money. Haye can't afford to lose, Povetkin if he does still has Ryabinsky behind.
It is clear to anyone Povetkin has more self belief in himself than Haye. His performances and choice of opponents are testament to this, hence the reason he is recognised as behind the third best heavy behind Fury and Wlad and second best behind Wlad before Wlad lost his belt.
Poll it, find out who NSB recognise as the no.2 heavyweight from the time Haye came into the division whilst Povetkin has been active too until Haye 'retired', you've more time on your hands now than when you hadnt before the non ******ation order.Comment

Listen, we've already gone over that. I already told you that Haye said he would retire at 30 when he was 22 years old. It was way before Povetkin or Chagaev was ever on the radar. Or Klitschko for that matter. I don't feel like going over this again, because it's ******. Yeah I agree it would have been a step up, but that wasn't what we discussed. Did he fight anyone noteworthy at heavyweight? No not really.
No he was not always a big puncher. He used to fight based on output. To give you an example, he threw nearly 1000 punches vs Eddie Chambers. that's how you fight in the amateurs. He was fighting to score points rather than hurting his opponents. It took him a while to adjust to that, and once he did that was when his punching power came out.
.... Ok? It seems like you are changing the subject now. You said Chagaev was lineal champion, he wasn't. And he was never considered #1 or #2 either. It was always Vitali/Wladimir and then Haye #3 up until he lost to Klitschko.
I don't need to poll NSB, because most of them didn't follow boxing when it occurred. Everyone at the time said Haye was the best not named Klitschko. Those are just facts. Look at TBRB Inaugural rankings in 2012, more than a year after Haye lost to Klitschko:
http://www.tbrb.org/2013/02/19/11-october-2012/
Haye #3 behind Wlad and Vitali.Comment

Yea or it would be nice if he does catapult in the rankings and they start forcing him to fight the best.Totally agree with you. But my dislike for haye is worse... Guys fightint totally unknown no hopers, and just trying to talk himself into a title shot!!! Please please NOBODY GIVE HIM A TITLE SHOT! The guys a complete fraud all about money, he fooled the public in making the audley fight, fooled everyone that hes gonna actually do something and take chances against wlad... And now hes trying it again! Too scared to actually fight someone with a pulse incase he loses... Doubt he would even give briggs a shot! Hope he gets ktfo by this no hoper!Comment
