The British are pretty self deprecating when it comes to our country. It's hard to be proud when some old fart has declared herself ruler and is ****ting money sideways whilst the poor starve.

British patriotism/nationalism is a problem too. Because I have a Mediterranean look (dark skin/hair), I tend to stay the **** away from pubs with England flags hanging out the front.

Maybe you should pop in and have a drink not all pubs are havens for EDL and the like. Just normal people Binmen, Bankers, Cafe owner, Teachers, Students, Plumbers etc. Of course that doesn't apply to all of them but your stereotype of a 2016 pub is incorrect.
