    Straight from Arums mouth

Arum stated that Mayweather would have fought Margarito for the 8 million, but he wanted a guaranteed 10 million to fight Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton. Arum only guaranteed him 7 million. And for those who don’t know Cotto and Hatton were at the Mayweather-Gatti fight and Cotto was ranked number 5 by the ring at the time (Proof: Listen to the commentary Jim Lampley at the end of round 5) . Cotto had just moved up to the 140 pound weight class and he didn’t make an offer to fight Mayweather after the Gatti fight.

Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn’t interested in participating in. “That’s not in the cards,” Arum said. “He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It’s not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold ’em and when to fold ’em. We’ll talk about things down the road.” Notice this part Arum was talking.
so floyd wanted a 20 million guarantee to fight marg when he only got a 10 millino guarantee to fight hoya...and this isn't pricing yourself out/ducking the fight how? you see you have to comprehend what you are reading, not just read it. how could arum guarantee that? he couldn't. floyd knew that. floyd knew that so well that he only accepted 10 millino when he fought hoya.

Pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. rejected promoter Bob Arum's $8 million offer to fight welterweight titlist Antonio Margarito, and he instead exercised a provision in his contract to buy Arum out and become a promotional free agent, Arum told ESPN.com on Monday.

According to Arum, Mayweather turned down the career-best purse to meet Margarito on Aug. 12 on HBO Pay-Per-View, instead opting for free agency by buying Arum out of their deal for $750,000.

"I did hear from him," Arum said of Mayweather. "He decided not to fight this summer. I made him a tremendous offer. I think Margarito is the riskiest fight for him of anyone out there."

Mayweather adviser Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN.com that Mayweather passed on the fight not because he is ducking Margarito, but because he couldn't be ready to fight by Aug. 12. Mayweather injured his right hand during a dominating April 8 victory against Zab Judah.

"Floyd is not 100 percent healthy," Ellerbe said. "He has a bruised right hand. His hand is not broken. It's bruised, but it's a bad bruise. He wants to go into any fight 100 percent healthy. If Antonio Margarito happens to be the best available option when he is healthy, so be it.

"We are not turning down Margarito. I want to make that crystal clear. When and if he is the best available option for Floyd's next fight, that's the direction he will move in."

When he read this post he said "daggumit" lol. He has no intrest in posting the truth. He just want to keep drinking the arum cool aid. He still cannot and will not give a reply to why floyd signed the contract back in 09 and pac refused. Or comment on roach saying floyd would have beat pac back in 09. Which equal valid reasons to duck floyd to keep making cheesy cherry picked fights.

Arum and Diaz say that the 'Pretty Boy' was offered in the neighborhood of $7 million to face Margarito. In what could best be described as a 'business move', the same guy who brazenly challenged the bigger Winky Wright decided to bypass Margarito, to collect nearly $4 million to spar with Sharmba Mitchell.

oh yea lets also not forget the time he ducked winky. called him out, winky agreed to floyd's terms then floyd changed the terms hmmm haven't seen that one before have we?

why are you pretendign that floyd never ducked anyone? this is boxing. it happens all the time. its just funny watching you deny reality.

The floyd made 50 million off the oscar fight as he got a piece of the ppv sales which were a record 200 plus million sales. Its a difference in getting upfront cash on a weak fight and getting a piece on the back end for a fantastic fight. See you have to understand the business end of a deal and not just take a biases opinion.

your comprehension is low and your "facts" are wrong. a bad combination

floyd actually made a grand total of 25 million not 50. also you don't understand the concept of guarantees. he demanded a 20 million minimum guarantee when he was with arum. then when he left he suddenlly accepted a 10 million minimum guarantee. that shows he was not serious in the first negotiations if he was willing to accept half of what he had just demanded. you are being distracted by how much he actually made but he wasn't guarantteed 25 million or even 20, just the 10 he accepted when he fought hoya. he wanted at 20 million guarantee when he was with arum, something no one would give him, not even oscar/golden boy therefore making the demand unrealistic so why are you taking it seriously as if he wanted to fight marg because he made unrealistic demands?

Now you are either totally ignorant of the negotiated contract or just flat out lying. Floyd gave pac and co everything they asked for including a ridiculous 25million per lbd over wt clause and the ring size he wanted all floyd asked for was OST? And this was known that floyd was going to ask for peds testing. Roach knew. And this was part of the negotiations. Arum and roach just used this to duck floyd and capitalize on pacs popularity. And you talk so much about who you feel floyd ducked but there is a laundry list of fighters pac ran from. I question your boxing acumen. And my post are never emotional. But I do get surprised at the nonsense some dudes try to pass off as accurate. When it really just swill not fit for a pigs consumption.

"Flat turned him down like you can not believe," Arum said of Mayweather when he was offered a chance at the WBO title. "Any time we raised his name(margarito), Mayweather went crazy."

yes but it was part of the deal. something that killed the deal because he priced himself out. wayyyyy out. if you can't understand this is pricing yourself out then you never will. just give up i guess?

they gave pac everything he asked for? i dont remember pac asking for a 40 million dollar flat fee. that was pretty easy to debunk. next! see this is what im talking about. you are so biased you just completely ignore certain things to make your point. you conflate things over and over and over again in order to get to the explanation you want. its crap.
