  • Cruz's best shots did absolutely nothing to Framton. I was impressed with how much Frampton made Cruz miss too.

You guys think if Frampton turned on the gas when he had him hurt early he could have scored a stoppage?

I don't think Frampton would have stopped him, Santa Cruz has a very good chin. It was a great fight and I look forward to seeing both guys again.

Santa Cruz hasn't been a puncher since left 118. That was the only weight where he showed any real power.

Leo looked more off balance than hurt when the left hook stumbled him. If he was hurt, he recovered way too quickly for Frampton to do anything about it. His legs were immediately under him and he looked fine.

LOL @ Santa Cruz saying he wants a rematch in LA

I'd like to see Frampton vs Selby next.
He also said he would go to Belfast, so the takeaway from his post-fight interview was that he wants a rematch, wherever.

          Unlikely, though.

Yeah Im not sure they would go for rematch right away. Think Frampton vs Selby makes the most sense financially, and they are both with Haymon.

Warrington is also coming up in the UK selling a lot of tickets if he wants an easier fight after taking some tough opponents recently (and still would get paid well, if he doesnt mind working with Hearn)

              No doubt about it.

Man what a fight. Cruz had some moments late. Frampton did his best work early. It was just a great close fight. Both guys raised their stock substantially. They can rest up a little while cause it was a tough fight. Cruz can pick up a win or two and be right back in position for a rematch. Frampton will probably fight Selby. That's a big fight. Then Frampton-Cruz II it'll be bigger than the first one and for more money.

People seem to have also forgotten that LSC went 12 rounds with Mijares. He beats opponents with activity, not power. He leaves guys punch-drunk.

You brought up good points especially with the fight of the year stuff. I slightly disagree with the crowd analysis about how it favored Frampton. I think Cruz had just as big of a crowd in New York, it was about 50/50. I think Framptons supporters had more defining moments to cheer about. Also think about how often Mexicans have a crowd advantage when they fight in the U.S, especially the southern regions. Mexicans basically have home court advantage in the U.S. Canelo-Smith will show us that in Texas. I think you can apply similar advantages to home court advantage in several other sports that also show themselves in boxing.

Frampton will indeed dictate all terms regarding a rematch. I'll bet each fighter has one or two fights in between then- Frampton just has so many lucrative options. I don't see him feeling obligated to give Cruz a rematch any time soon.

Also your point about the UK I was thinking about after Frampton won. WOW UK fighters are doing great right now, they also will take challenges unlike American fighters. I mean it's shocking an Irish heavyweight fighter was the guy to dethrone Wlad?????

I wouldn't consider Frampton "undersized at featherweight" I think he's average. And yes, featherweight is awesome right now. I wonder If all these great fighters at 126 will motivate Lomachenko to stay at his new increased weight?
