    ^^^Same here

which is why I'm calling BS on the "only 8500 in attendance" talk; sans the section right behind the media, the entire lower bowl was basically packed in by the time the Ward fight started.

With Oracle Arena seating 20k at capacity, I'd imagine that the lower bowl could seat 12k if packed in.

Will likely end up that Andre Ward sold "only 8500 tickets".

Ward vs. Smith: 9,016 attendance (no clue on who paid and who didn't, although I assume a lot of tickets were given for free)

      Ward vs. Barrera: 8,532.

Keep in mind that all these fights were in California, the Rodriguez fight was the only one that wasn't in his hometown...

Now GGG, who doesn't have a hometown base...

GGG vs. Lemieux : 20,568 attendance (Fight was at MSG in NY)

GGG vs. Monroe: 12,732 attendance (Fight was at the Forum in California)

GGG vs. Murray: 900 attendance (Fight was in Monaco) - That's his lowest figure

GGG vs. Rubio: 9,323 (sell out) - (Fight was at the StubHub center in Cali)

Before you say "The Ticket prices were cheaper" Nope. They were the same with the exception of the Golovkin Lemieux fight in which they were slightly more expensive.

GGG's fight with Wade is already projected to do well over 10,000, maybe even 12,000.

His ratings for the Wade will also end up smashing Ward's.
All this tells me is that Ward/GGG are roughly the same as far as drawing power with Gennady slightly more popular

GGG might avg 100k -200k or so more viewers and pull in about 3-4k More fans per event but basically in the same ballpark

It just makes K2 and Abel look ****** when they say Ward isn't in their league because he clearly is.

This ggg vs Ward #'s thing, are people forgetting how ggg is an HBO product that they've been building for a few years now?? The fact that Andre pulls comparable #'s despite a huge hiatus speaks for itself (not that I care about that but if they're trying to argue it, the facts are not in their favor).
If your last bits of integrity rely on ggg out-selling Ward, you should find something better to do with your life because you're losing this game.

        great post !

The main point to me is..... Golovkin fans should have never used numbers to justify anything..... any real fight fan knows that Ward is at least on Golovkin's level, and that he has more than paid his dues..... why would fan's feel the need to get caught up in that numbers game?

And that certainly backfired on them with Canelo didn't it LMAO

So now what do we see?..... shameless flip-flopping, that's what.

NOW, numbers are irrelevant..... just like, NOW, cw's are bad

        Hilarious really !

We're still talking GGG vs Ward, please stop, that would seriously be Ward's easiest fight to date, let's move on.

-They said no one will fight him. Turns out it's he who won't fight anyone.
-They said he's a star. PPV flops and he's bent over a barrel w/ Canelo.
-They say Ward is irrelevant. Ward does a ggg-sized figure in his comeback.

I think he draws a less educated hardcore fanbase and they inevitably are going to say ******, indefensible things. I actually LIKE him as a fighter and really enjoy watching him fight, but I learned years ago not to defend the actions of someone just because you like them. You can't win when you base your integrity on someone else's actions.

You are missing the point again.

All that "168 for Chavez Jr and Froch but not for Ward stuff" was irrelevant because Chavez Jr and Froch out-sold both Ward and GGG.

Golovkin would have been the B side against either of them and he accepted that to try and make those fights.

Ward-Barrera was the most watched sporting event on cable on Saturday.

The only way you can confidently say that is if GGG-Wade pulls in the same amount of viewers. I think you and I both know which fight will generate more viewers...
