The Salido fight was close. Other so called P4P fighters get roughed up and they get the decision and they don't even outland their opponent. Had the referee taken off points from Salido (like he should have) then Loma would have definitely gotten the decision, but since Loma is not a favorite (like you think he is) he didn't get the decision. I don't want to keep discussing this, it's getting quite boring.
Well Russell's people were the ones that won the purse bid, so why is it Loma's fault he got a good paycheck. Russell's people should have bid lower. Right?
Russell is one of the most of accomplished American amateurs since Andre Ward. We are talking multiple time USA National champion, National Golden Gloves Champion, 2008 Olympian and getting a Bronze medal at the 2005 World Championships at the age of 17!
Ramos was nowhere near as accomplished as an amateur.
Russell's pro career has definitely been a bit of a disappointment with those hand injuries and what not. I would favor Russell over that Donaire that fought Walters for sure though. Don't make the Donaire win for Walters sound bigger than it is. Donaire was struggling in his two fights before Walters. Nonito was above his best weight class and was already slowing down. Rigo gets full credit for his Donaire win. Rigo actually fought a Donaire coming off an impressive year and in a better weight class for Nonito.
Dude, you're so worried about their checks. Are you getting part of Walters' money or something?
You're also really in love with undefeated records. I'm assuming you're favorite fighters are undefeated? Are you going to stop supporting them if they lose? That's not a real fan, is it? If my fighter loses, I'll keep supporting them ESPECIALLY if they were fighting the best fighters available in their primes. Nothing beats a fighter that's actually willing to test themselves. Even if they're not my favorite fighters, but they are willing to test themselves against the best fighters that are in their primes and are daring to be great, I can't disrespect that. I have more respect for fighters willing to test themselves than fighters that worry about their little 0. That's one of the reasons why boxing is losing people. People hate to admit it, but there is something seriously wrong with boxing right now. And it's okay, I actually thinking denying that something is wrong with boxing is worse than actually seeing the mistakes and trying to fix them.
Let's not get blinded by our love for boxing. When there is something wrong we should try to fix not hide it and pretend nothing is wrong.
So Lomachenko would waste a training camp thinking he will fight Walters then in the last second they would change his opponent? You know how much criticism Loma would get? Walters would not get any of the blame. People would say "oh Loma is fighting a bum that took the fight in a weeks notice". That's freaking dumb, man. Come on. You should know better.
Loma is not talking smack. Is he taunting them a little? Yes, but that's because Walters is making it more difficult than it has to.
Walters would get his career highest purse for the Loma fight. What do you mean "low purse"?
Well, let's see what big fights Walters gets then. You guys were accusing Loma of ducking this guy, but now you don't want the fight. I get it. I'm cool with Loma moving on if Walters is too scared. But let's see what big fights Walters and Rigo get over the next few months.
Loma gets a nice pay check because of the contract he signed to turn pro. I'm sure you can find the details if you look around Obviously several promoters wanted to sign him since he is a top 5 amateur boxer of all time. And of course he was going to sign the best contract for himself. You can't hate him for that. You would do the same if you were in his position.
I'm really curious to see what big money fights Walters will get though. I can't wait to see Walters in a huge fight in which both Walters and his opponent make millions of dollars. I can't wait.
That goes for Rigo as well.
