I just said he's fearing to lose that 0, something to live with, but I already said Toney went Heavyweight. Now, surely we agree that if Kova lost 2 in row and he didn't get good praise, but then is given the opportunity for a title that a heavy accepts against Kovalev.

He's fearing to lose his 0 but Ward needing tuneups before facing him says what exactly?

Ward is going to be asking for another tune-up next. It's a huge step up from Sulivan Wade to Kovalev.

Is Barrera really a tune up? He seems on par with some of Kov's title defenses (& probably better than that pizza delivery guy a couple fights back). This seemed like a legit fight vs a respectable opponent, for the first time in a minute, for Ward to me. Granted no one or hardly anything viewed it as a legit fight cuz Ward is considered such an elite talent, but this guy was a top 10 guy @ 175 by some indie rankings.

Barrera is ok but he wasn't top 20 ranked by Boxrec or Fight.news, which are the only indie rankings I bother with. Ward was only his 18th fight and his best win was Karo Murat. He became Kovalev's mando for the same reason Wade became mando for GGG ... guys ranked higher than him didn't want the job.

Roc picked him as tune-up for Ward, don't forget.

Kovalev believes "catching" Ward is a possibility at this point. He's probably right. Whether or not Ward folds is the question. I doubt very seriously he will.
