Blackwells head was flying around for far too long and the game plan of coming on strong late had gone as he was reduced to a slow, tired virtually one eye'd fighter.I think Lockett got caught up in the moment and let this go for a few rounds too long as Nick was battered and was never going to turn it around , it was hard to watch and I only hope that Nick makes a full recovery , I have never witnessed such a brave man, Gatti like.

Its still more strategic of Eubank winning just with a typical throwaway comment about injuries to the other fighter that just happened to come true on this night sadly. If nothing had happened to Blackwell in this fight little would have been made of these remarks.

Plus the truth is there is a vested interest in Blackwell not being critically injured in this fight cuz as the saying goes when a fighter dies two careers are destroyed.

Not trying to say anything bad about Eubank I just don't see all the father/humanitarian of the year type **** holding much water over what was said. Guy gave advice to get a W which just so happened to include words about a guy being injured & he did get injured. I don't even think he mentioned it in a particularly caring or concerned way he's just got that British accent so everything sounds nicer lol.
Believe me, Eubank knows boxing is a serious sport. He's seriously hurt a fighter that lived 3 miles from my area.

He also didn't want Jnr to be a boxer when he was a kid. They did a documentary on him and Jnr was a naughty kid. He repeats that it's a dangerous sport.

Look at 36:22 He even says the refs not to look out for opponents of his sons. 37:20 he even said whoever is the ref on your fight, he will need to guard you.

Someone asks him a question u said boxing is a mugs game at 38.20.

      He answers with once sentence.

Ask back to the family of Gerrald Mcclellan.

He actually said 'two, IF IT GOES TO A DECISION...' i.e., don't let it go to a decision just in case, by some miracle, you lose a bad decision. He wanted him to switch to the body because Blackwell was taking the head shots, and a body shot was more likely to result in a KO than a head shot. That's my take anyway.

Eubank said he never threw a full power shot in any subsequent fight after he nearly killed Watson because he was afraid of the damage he might potentially cause his opponent. He often talked about quitting the sport in many interviews back in the early 1990s after that fight. It haunted him for years and probably always will.
Don't disagree with any of that, though I agree with the original poster you quoted, in that it seemed to me Eubank was advising Jr to go to the body rather than the head because that was more likely to yield a KO. It seemed strategic to me. Although Eubank was ****ing on the canvas during the fight, urging to the referee to stop it as Blackwell was taking a beating. So he obviously was concerned that Blackwell was taking punishment.

Eubank senior was right, Blackwell was in trouble several rounds before he got his face disfigured. It should have been stopped earlier with good reason.
The commentators kept trying to talk up Blackwell's ability to turn it on late in the fight but the young man was just a tin can getting smashed around the ring. There was nothing in the tank but a beaten fighter wincing at feints. He was bleeding like a stuck pig.
He was fighting on little more than courage and desire.
Hands up doggedly walking forward into a hail of bullets.
I doubt he's ever been hit that hard or that often.
Eubank jnr was teeing off on him from the get go.
It wasn't a great fight to watch because from about the 4th round onwards it was obvious this was only going to go one way and now the poor kid has a brain bleed.
The referee is passed his use by date.
              What about Blackwell's corner?
When you're man is taking a beating and not answering the barrage of blows coming in, you hook him out of there but his corner just left him to his fate.
              Disgraceful.
I am gutted for the young fighter.
Between the referee and his corner, his career is over.

Bro don't be silly. He clearly said u won't take him out with shots to the head (meaning cos he has a good chin and the refs not stopping it) so u have to take it into ur own hands by taking him out to the body cos u can't let it go to points. Eubank was trying to force the ref to stop it by opening up.with flurries of like 30 shots cos some refs panic and stop it. This ref wasn't fooled by the flurries cos most weren't landing flush and Eubank isn't a big puncher. Hence why Eubank sr said the ref won't stop it so the only way to stop him is to take him CLEAN out. So to do that u go to his body to weaken him then take him out to the head.
You guys are having a laugh. You all can't understand the point he was trying to make.

Firstly to say that makes a sinful mockery of the courage and raw bravery exhibited by Nick Blackwell.
That poor kid showed incredible heart to take that kind of overt beating.
Blackwell wasn't answering any flurries with anything more than pure heart and that is what ends up in a stretcher out of the ring.
Eubanks power is not in question by anyone who knows boxing.
When you generate that kind of speed and accuracy and you make a tough fighter look like he's been tenderised facially by a hydraulic jackhammer, then you are witnessing power.
The poor kid is in hospital with a bleed on his brain.
                    His career is over.
The referee should have stepped in earlier.
His corner should have never let him out for the last round at the very least.

It's obvious you have some beef with Eubank jnr, thats your business, but you shouldn't let it cloud your judgement with remarks that will mark your future posts as unlikely to be worthy of reading.
