Comments Thread For: Blackwell in Medically-Induced Coma After Eubank Jr. Loss

Nick Blackwell was rushed to hospital on Saturday night after collapsing in the ring.

The Trowbridge middleweight slumped to the canvas in the aftermath of his defeat to Chris Eubank Jr. at the SSE Arena, Wembley.

Blackwell, who was defending his British title, looking to retain it for a third time and get it for keeps, had his efforts halted by the ringside physician after a bad haematoma to the left eye forced the intervention of the referee inside 10 punishing rounds.

Blackwell was taking flush hits for more rounds than he should of been allowed. Echoes of Father like son now for real :/

            Wishing blackwell a speedy recovery.

Ps: On a side note I see Eubank Jr hasnt even come out to wish his opp well :/

So I agree with you 150%.

But certain other folks on here would claim that "THIS is what Boxing should be!".

On a side note, this really does hearken back to Eubank/Watson, except there were actually timely attendees present this time and better care for Blackwell than what Watson got.

An earlier stoppage was definitely in order and I hope this incident doesn't send Eubank Jr. into a holdback phase like his father. The ref needs to do his job and stop trying to be Steve Smoger.

Eubank Snr was questioned in the presser a few days a go.

The guy asked, you say boxing is a fools game.

Then Senior said that's easy, I can answer that all day.

Ask Gerrald Mcclellan about this job.

Very sad. Blackwell was amazingly guts, he was never winning that fight and to let the fight run that deep was just utterly pointless and dangerous.
