Canelo Alvarez will do a job but he isn't going to be touching the same heights of attraction than both Floyd and Pac did.
We have talented fighters that just lack personality and the ability to sell.
So boxing is about selling more then skills?

If I take a strong look at other eras, it feels like it. At least, as far as entertainment value goes. But, I'm enjoying it none the less.

Mayweather and Pacquiao nuthuggers ruined boxing.

Mayweather made $Millions$ fighting once/twice a year. Even then there were questionable demands in weight, testing etc. Which i won't go into.

My point is - Boxing fans don't care about the best match ups. So long as another man [Mayweather] wins and makes money, his fans are satisfied.

I do not understand the logic. They rather he fought Maidana a second time, instead of Khan (A Fast boxer who would offer something different).

Same goes for the likes of GGG and even Cotto fans of yesteryear etc.

No, I see a whole lot of talent but not anyone in particular who I'm confident can hold it down for a while, maybe Ward but that's about it.

It is a transitional period, and not just on one level. So while there is talent it is either unknown, under appreciated, or unable to get the fights they need to change the first two.

No hype to the sport, no longevity to the sport.
You don't think these talented fighters will be earning the same kind of cash that Floyd and co were earning do you?
Talent is great to have in the sport but meaningless If hardly anyone cares about it, being able to sell and hype is even more so important, I'll take a bunch of guys who have losses on their records who know how to hype up the sport over a bunch of guys who look to avoid all the big fights that there are to be made because those guys with the losses are willing to fight whoever and that's what fans want to see.

Yes, we are. The reason is not because there are not quality fighters out there. It is because none of the top fighters are willing to fight each other. Every one of them wants to get paid like Floyd Mayweather, but none of them are willing to fight world champions back to back to back like Mayweather did. They want to fight journeymen on PPV and get paid millions for it.

It's weak at the moment because PBC has muffled most of their fighters.

What an idiotic post! Mayweather made millions fighting once or twice a year because he worked his way to the top, built a following and earned the right to be paid $50 to $100 million per fight. The guys fighting today aren't willing to work their way to the top. Instead, they want to fight journeymen like Dominic Wade, Kevin Bizer and Amir Khan while demanding big money and fights against the best in the business.

Mayweather only fought two catchweight fights and one first one came 10 years after he began his career. By that time, he had earned the right to do whatever the hell he wanted. None of today's fighters can say that.

Mayweather fought Maidana a second time because Maidana didn't get KTFO by Bredis Prescott and Danny Garcia.
