The problem I have with Garica though is he barely does enough, just like Canelo, they both get rewarded for barely getting the job done.

Our two young Latino stars don't have the skill to win in dominant fashion.

We don't have star pulling names to attract the masses we had Floyd and Pacquiao but now these two names will call it a day and from here on we honestly don't have much left.
Canelo Alvarez will do a job but he isn't going to be touching the same heights of attraction than both Floyd and Pac did.
We have talented fighters that just lack personality and the ability to sell.

There is plenty of talent. Whether or not they will reach the star power of a Mayweather or Pacquiao remains to be seen. A passing of the torch kind of fight would help. Say Manny fights Crawford and loses or, better yet, Floyd comes back and loses to someone, but I don't see either of those happening.

Interest in boxing is down in general. I'm talking about talent. It's still there. People put these old fighters on a pedestal and think Sugar Ray Leonard or somebody would roll out of bed and beat every current 147-160 fighter blind folded, with one hand behind his back.

I think we're in a transition lull. Next set of stars has to step up and get sorted out. Will it be WW's like Brook, Spence, and Thurman? Or LHW's? We'll just have to wait and see.

Most encouraging development in boxing is the resurgence of activity, and excitement, and intrigue of the sport's moneymaker, HW. Not only the guys we all know, but there is lots of exciting talent most people have never heard of like Izu Ugonoh, Jarrell Miller, Andy Ruiz Jr, Oscar Rivas, lots of Euro prospects. Of course not all will pan out, but if HW starts to catch fire, it will do wonders for the sport.

We have talented fighters, who all go out of their way to avoid facing each other. That's not healthy for the sport and it stops them from reaching their true potential, how good can you really say a fighter is, if he's never been in deep waters against another great fighter? What would Morales and Barrera be, without each other?

This is a weak era, because promoters have figured out how to make money without any risk and the fighters are happy to go along with that.
