Canelo is not giving GGG advantages, he would simply be fighting the mandatory weight limit of 160 lbs. The ONLY Mexican fans who back him simply do it out of being bandwagon fans because no real Mexican (or Latino in general) supports his lame excuses. This catch weight BS is getting old. If you wont defend the middleweight title at the middleweight limit, give up the belt. Your not the middleweight champion if you don't fight at middleweight. I can understand certain catch weights to make certain fights, but this is ridiculous.

Surely that puts Khan ahead of lil'G when it comes to decision-making ?

Name 1 big fight that got done, where a fighter was completely unwilling to negotiate with the A-side?

Team Golovkin used the fact that Ward was unwilling to negotiate as justification to avoid that fight, even though they knew he couldn't make 164.

Why do you have a different set of rules for Golovkin ?

It's a WBC middleweight title mandatory defense. You can't force the mandatory to the belt to fight any lower than the division limit. THOSE RULES APPLY TO EVERYONE, not just "lil g".

Simple; Alvarez vacates the WBC belt and stands tall as the clear biggest star 154/160, and arguably the biggest star in the sport at that point.

Who does he fight? Miguel Cotto, Gabriel Rosado, Liam Smith(WBO 154 champ), Anthony Mundine, etc.

And that's without thinking all that hard; all TV friendly showdowns, that Alvarez brings a good amount of star power for, with marketing angles/gimmicks to sell the fights to more markets, on a network (HBO) that could care less who Alvarez fights as long as Alvarez is in the fight (two PR vs Mexico showdowns, a fight that's sellable in the UK, a fight that's PPV in Australia, etc).

You wrap the WBO 154 belt around 'Canelo's' waist, and continue to play him to his Mexican audience, and you run with that for as long as Canelo can/wants to fight at 154lbs (none of the other titlist at 154 are big enough names for the public to compel Alvarez to fight).

Once Alvarez can no longer make the 154 weight, he immediately moves into the 160lb division as the biggest star, and then it comes down to doing business; 85/15 Canelo split on any fight (if Golovkin or Saunders can't come to terms, Alvarez plots his own path through decent fights).

and those are all ppv fights? Cause thats all hbo cares about. They're not gonna pay this fat bastard all that money to fight on regular hbo and if they were ppv fights, they'll flop hard. Just because he's a popular mexican fighter doesnt mean he can sell just fighting anybody. He can probably sell out arena's (like ggg is already doing) but ppv numbers are gonna be low. Hell, even the canelo-con fight is gonna flop
