I disagree. I think it's a great rule. The idea is to prevent or discourage drastic weight cutting. In fact I think the WBC and others should be more strict so that fighters actually fight in weight divisions they belong in, instead of trying to get a big advantage by cutting weight and blowing up after the weigh in.

However, he first needs to comply by the WBC's rules, which requires all participants submit to 30- and 7-day pre-fight safety weight checks, to ensure that boxers are not losing an abnormal amount of weight in a short period of time.

          Oh shht !

Russell, you gotta stay active man.

So, anyone know what happens next ?

Do they strip him, fine him, give him another chance to make weight ?

I hope the fight doesn't get scrapped.

That makes a lot of sense now, with the recent news.

Also, Gary's dad looks like he is about one Coca Cola from a diabetic stroke. The dude is a lard. Hopefully Gary isn't developing bad habits from his dad. I notice that athletes with overweight fathers end up just losing themselves when they're not training.

Not trying to hate, but let's be honest about it. Look at Broner and his dad.

Did Russell ever provide proof of his injury that cancelled the Escandon fight in November 2015? That fight was called off 11 days before it was set to happen.

Maybe it wasn't a cut, maybe he just knew he wasn't going to make weight and they came up with another excuse?

That's probably why Pedraza is the co-feature to Russell-Hyland, they were hoping Russell would be able to make weight one last time before rising to 130 and challenging Pedraza for his belt.
