The job of the Governement is to protect our liberties, not giving us Free lunches. That is socialism or puopulism. The government is not be a participant of the markets, but a regulator. If You are a participant being the regulator, where is the Free Market? It is Fascism the merging of Government with Corporations.learn that before defending Bull****!

This is the most drama over 2.6lbs in a non-title fight I've seen in a minute. Just f#cking fight you momo is mostly what I'm thinking about De La Rosa. I actually see him as the bigger problem. Granted its his right to not fight over a 2.6lb overage from the contract + a 3.6lb overall difference in weights & fair enough with all that, but its some momo **** & if I was a promoter I would stray away from putting De La Rosa on my cards.

Lemieux obviously needs to sort out his weight issues if he's looking to still compete at 160, but to me thats the lesser issue with this situation.

Being how weight problems can put a boxing card into disarray I feel like overages penalties & protocol should be worked out in every contract agreement to avoid this last minute bs. And fair enough if its just to cancel the fight, but I feel like most non-momos would opt for a boost in purse cuz few fights are being won or lost cuz of 2.6lbs. To me no non-title fight should be called off cuz two fighters are 3.6lbs apart in weight.

You could lower taxes on corporations to zero and they STILL would make more profits if they move their factories to Mexico or China. Especially China since they practically use slave labor.

Instead of seeing big business make obscene profits that they then use to buy politicians and influence I would much rather see some of that money go to the public good.

They fully expected that cheating on the scales would be fine and they could just buy the opponent into fighting on while being cheated.

Any fighter who misses weight should see the same outcome: miss weight, fight cancelled.
Totally agree. Remember when FM was fighting JMM? Marquez moved up 3 weight classes and Floyd still came in heavy and paid the blown up super bantam weight big bucks to fight. lol
I wouldn't mind a return to same day weigh-ins, it might level the playing field a bit.

Wow, how unprofessional for the trainer to go just by feeling to make weight. Cut carbs and sugars, go to sleep hungry if u have to. eat your vegetables and fruits now an then. Red meat n chicken once a week. No boxing this weekend, smh.

No, I can't agree with that.

Team Lemieux admitted in that interview that they knew Pepe was gonna miss weight and they just assumed that De La Rosa would accept a payout to fight.

That is about as unprofessional as you can get, especially if they did not even bother to inform DLR beforehand and just waited for Lemieux to miss weight.

Also, I think the amount they offered him has been disputed ?

I am surprised that DLR did not take the fight if he was offered a decent bonus, really surprised..... but no way can the blame be pointed at him.

Its for sure unprofessional of Lemieux (or anyone else) to not come in on weight. I wouldn't disagree with that. I'm just saying if I was in the boxing business I'd look at De La Rosa worse for not playing ball & fighting a guy who's 3.6lbs heavier than him (with some $ incentive obviously). The show must go on.

Idk all the details with money offered or not offered or how much it was or wasn't & maybe my opinion would change with that info being known, but from the story I read + an assumption De La Rosa was offered fair market value by Lemieux's people for an overage in a non-title fight I side with Lemieux in a lesser of two evils situation.

That's nonsense. Marquez was fighting at lightweight (135) at the time. He skipped only ONE weight class (140). He's also the one who called out Floyd at welterweight. Learn your boxing.
