JMM had 50 fights weighing under 135lbs and 2 fights at 135 before he fought FM at 142 (who knows what Floyd weighed. I wonder if his had his IV)

I agree. JMM is definitely an ATG. He's been in some great fights. His brother Rafael is another great Mexican warrior.

I'm not putting the blame solely on De La Rosa. I just feel like even with Lemieux being unprofessional by coming in overweight, De La Rosa is being more unprofessional by calling off the fight over a 2.6lb overage + a overall 3.6lb weight difference.

I could change my opinion with more facts about the amount De La Rosa was offered &/or was turned down. After looking into the numbers more it sounds like some he said, she said **** with De La Rosa's side saying they were offered $3k on top of a $70k purse & the Lemieux side is saying they offered a doubling of the purse ($140k). Who's being honest? Who f#cking knows. I do know the commission this fight was going to be fought under has a automatic 20% purse penalty for the offending fighter so 3k seems too low to me cuz Lemeiux obviously made more than 15k, but then again I'm not exactly sure how much of that goes to the fighter & how much goes to the commission so maybe not idk.

I liked him a lot more than his bro. I actually think he's more skilled than his brother, much more. He never got the exposure, and that is that.

He stopped fighting a couple of years ago. I recently watched Rafael's fights with Israel Vazquez. Just amazing fights. High skill level, great exchanges, see-saw action, knockdowns, no-clinch wars. Everything a fight fan could ask for.

No, he should not have accepted the money and gone ahead. Money should not make it alright to cheat someone.

They said themselves that they fully expected to buy the guy off and fight on regardless. When you miss weight by that much, either you didn't fully try or you expected to get away with it and need to cook up an excuse.

I never said it was a good situation if you'll notice. I'm just saying it wasn't a smart business move for Rosa. He's out a bunch of money because of it. And no fights for 6 months. If you're just a part-timer, fine. But isn't he a pro, trying to make a LIVING?
