It is very unprofessional of Lemieux to miss weight though, regardless of the weight or circumstances. It's embarrassing.
People were critical of Canelo-Lara and Canelo-Angulo despite them being non-title fights, and both guys made weight.

Regardless of the weight you agree to fight at, there is absolutely no excuse for missing it and I'm glad the fight was cancelled.

We need to start a nutrition business strictly focused on boxers within a budget that's widely agreeable upon. Mofo's just eating their checks up and out of divisions these days.

did he even try to make weight? might as well move up to 168

its crazy how the day before weigh in has changed the size of the fighters in the weight classes

These dudes are really light-heavyweights fighting at middleweight SMDH

I dont think any of the top middleweights could make 160 and be healthy the same day

            Well that sucks.

LeMule should just move up to 168 and chase the Rubio rematch

It's pretty funny that this happened after all the puff pieces the media wrote about Lemieux's return this week. Why do people even pay attention to this bum?

He and Chavez Jr. should agree to fight at 165 then come to to the weigh-in at 170-175. Cancel each other's fine and if there's still a difference in weight, the heavier one would pay for it. That would definitely be a fun fight!

Lemeiux's team intended to come in over weight for whatever reason and they thought that his opponent would play along and negotiate a higher catchweight, but they were obviously wrong. It's not like they can't step on a scale several times a day to see where they are at. The question is why.

Why wouldn't De La Rosa take the money?

Tomorrows main event with David Lemieux and James De La Rosa is off as Lemieux came in heavy at 165.6 pounds, well above the contracted weight of 163. De La Rosa weighed in at 162 pounds. All negotiations to help salvage the bout went for naught with promoters willing to offer as much as 40% extra to the purse of the Texas fighter. “He really wasn’t interested in hearing any talk of money,” promoter Camille Estephan said
