Tomorrows main event with David Lemieux and James De La Rosa is off as Lemieux came in heavy at 165.6 pounds, well above the contracted weight of 163. De La Rosa weighed in at 162 pounds. All negotiations to help salvage the bout went for naught with promoters willing to offer as much as 40% extra to the purse of the Texas fighter. “He really wasn’t interested in hearing any talk of money,” promoter Camille Estephan said

I agree.

He is not a top contender, and he agreed to a cw of 163 anyway.

But, he is within his rights to refuse.

The issue is, both respective camps must be a bit miffed with their fighters, nobody will get paid 1 red cent..... Lemieux should have made weight, so this situation is completely on him, but Team De La Rosa won't get paid 1 red cent either.

Seems clear to me that Lemiuex's camp didn't take the weight serious and felt if they go over who cares we will just pay a few bucks to De La Rosa. Seem like they felt it's a non title fight really just a showcase/rebound fight no need to kill themselves in camp to make weight. Shocked that De La Rosa doesn't want to get an extra paycheck and is refusing to fight. But hey that's his right.
