Comments Thread For: Lemieux Vows True 160 Run: You Can't Just Make Up Weights

By Jake Donovan - Short of rolling over and feigning injury in hopes of landing a cheap disqualification win, there wasn't much David Lemieux could do in his middleweight title unification bout with Gennady Golovkin in front of a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden last October. The charismatic boxer from Montreal took a big risk in his first title defense and came up massively short against the best middleweight in the world.

        All the MW be like

Get real Canelo, man up or take your biiiiitch as back to 154, oh wait, you can't.

Canelo has no power, so he is a MW who wants to fight 147ers.

Unfortunately, you can very well make up weights and still have your 'World title fight' perfectly sanctioned.

I blame Cotto for all this "MW" BS...Its bizarre that the MW title has been held hostage and is now being fought for by a JMW and a WW...???!!!

Anyway, sounds like Canelos gonna drop that title and face Lemieux this sept...GGGSaunders later in the yr....Im speculating

I'd much rather see Lemieux/Jacobs than Lemieux/GGG in the near future. The guy doesn't seem to have the style to beat GGG, so bring on Jacobs, Saunders, Eubank, Geale...

I'll second that. As long as he sticks by his words (e.g doesn't drop weight if Alvarez comes calling). He wants to fight the best, and we definately need more boxers with this mindset.

The guy won a MW belt and demanded Golovkin for his next fight. How many people have/would do that? BJS doesn't seem too keen looking at this bum he's lining up to face.
