The MW belt doesn't help sell the Khan fight. The numbers would be the same with or without the belt. He put 30k ppl in a baseball stadium and 2 mil views without a belt. He's already established so how does it help him by holding onto the belt?
    Casual fans........
That's what the belt brings, also a bargaining chip...
Hardcore boxing fans know he's not a real MW nor is he the MW world champion, but on paper he is, and that's what the casual fans look at... Without the belt, boxers would say well why would I want to risk this fight, casuals will say, who is he, he doesn't have a belt or o he's the fella who got beat by Mayweather...
The only people who will buy/watch a fight without a belt would be a boxers fans from their own country (Mexican this time for example) and hardcore fans.....
