Comments Thread For: Guillermo Rigondeaux - A Stagnant Cult of Rigo

By Cliff Rold - It wasn't long ago that one could call him a genuine cult favorite.

Lineal Jr. featherweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (16-0, 10 KO) has never been everyone's cup of tea. He's not an offensive minded fighter. His personality comes across to some as stoic, to others stodgy.

Rigo is just the best 122 in the world , and one of the best defensive fighter in the world , ever , and of course : the most avoided fighter in the game ....
Ask Leo " the rabbit panticruz " , ask Carl " the ducker frampton " , ask the joke Scott quig ..,. All scared of facing the master .

Hit and not be hit ; can not hit what you don't see .

Theres no denying who all ducked Rigo, everybody know hes the absolute best at 122. LSC knew bk then, he knows now, Frampton and Quigg know...Rigos in a class of his own. At the same time he has that dreadful style that it makes it almost impossible to watch...bcuz theres almost nothing to watch. He can press more, throw more..not just avoid as much action as he can. Mayweather balanced that dfense and offense to a thing of beauty.

It's not Rigo's fault that most boxers today are chickens. Abner, Leo, Frampton...

Cliff is a very good writer but he should make this piece more objective. Paint the whole picture.

When on earth did Cliff write this article? Or doesn't he read Boxingscene's own news? Or is he perhaps suffering memory loss? Remember the Rigo fight is off and he's back in Miami. Get with it guys!

I don't know how people say Rig. Has no power? He SMASHED Donaires eye and that Japanese boxer after their fight looked like he dove out of a 50 story building and landed face first!!! Good Lord I couldn't even look at his face after the fight. I really felt sorry for him it was that bad...

I think the bigger scheme of things involve political parties at the Olympics with Cuban boxers vs promoting American boxers.

You really can't highlight a Cuban boxer in the USA which in theory, to the networks and other sports organization involved, could perhaps confuse the public that winning a Cuban Gold medal is also good if an American doesn't win a Gold medal. I'm not saying that's exactly the case, but surely there has to be some theory involved with that.

What's funnier is Floyd was an All-American highlight and the media and some other sport networks just shıtted on him. That's all because of Arum and his associations. Floyd breaking free from that goon and becoming a self promoting mega star isn't a metaphor or image for the ''abolition'' of shackles?

This is why Arum hates my sig. Arum thinking that Ring Master at a circus is the same thing as a ''Ring Master'' in boxing, just own your talents and make them entertain for your profit? Too bad Tim Burton can't make a film about Arum. It'd win Oscars and make Tarantino look kinder.

I think he might be the best boxer ever. But we will never know this without big fights... What a shame for boxing...
