It's good to be Gennady Golovkin.

After all, the 33-year-old is unbeaten in a decade-long pro career, he's got a TV-friendly style that's yielded a swelling international fan base and he's considered by most significant boxing know-it-alls to be the best full-time middleweight on the planet.

Good article. Just the hard truth and even Golovkin's mgt seems to becoming to terms with it. He's gone about as far as you can go doing what he does but if he wants the next level, he's got to be willing to bend to those who wield more power than he does.

Well he refuses to take any challenges. Mayweather and Pacquiao fought top 5 P4P fighters more than 10 years prior to 34 years old. And even then, it took them years of dominating through weight classes to finally get top 3 P4P recognition by journalists and fans. GGG was given the spot by beating no one of note. That doesn't get you big fights. His top 3 status was a gift by writers, websites, and fans because he is a likable KO artist, no other reason. He didn't actually earn with a big win, or several big wins.

Mayweather, Pacquiao, Canelo are three guys of 3 different races and they were/are all superstars. Pacquiao did not inherit a large following just from being Asian, he had to earn it by beating guys up that people didn't think he could beat. African Americans of Floyd's era don't sell very well, Floyd had to do it by winning and taking challenges. A fighter as young as Canelo being that popular doesn't just happen by being Mexican, you have take on the fighters that fans say you are ducking (Trout, Lara) and win.

Geography is not the problem here, it's the balls.

GGG needs to just hold his stance. If he continues to take step aside money then hes also to blame for the fight not happening. As for being mandatory, stick with with it...Canelo vavcating that title will look baaadd. Saunders sounded off, we can get a UNIFIED MW Champ THIS YEAR, while itll look like Canelo ran with his tail between his legs. And if that Champ is indeed GGG, hes in the perfect position to get some good fights as theyll be no way around him. Come the conclusion of May 7th if Canelo continuesto sit at 155 with how loaded 154 is atm and GGG sitting north..wont be a good look for Canelo.

I doubt Canelo avoids GGG this Sept however..

With or without Canelo, Golovkin will be just fine.

Most people aren't in the know with regards to the rumours, speculation and promotor bull****, so experts/commentators go from his perforamance against whoever is in front of him. Martin Murray only stoppage is from Golovkin. David Lemiux (another world champ) didn't win a single round before being stopped in the 8th. Geale beat slyvester and sturm (both in Germany) so obviously could fight.

Alvarez struggled in two of his Fights. If he had won them convinvingly, there would be a lot more hype around him.

Floyd is great boxer and best pound for pound. His amateur record is 81-6, Golovkins is 345-5. Floyd got bronze, Golovkin got silver. Floyd done a lot more in his career as pro as he's had a lot more time.. Everyone has their own destiy.

Do you know how old Hopkins was when he unified with Trinidad? 36 years old.

Anyway.. Betrand Russel said that anything which can be explained in a nutshell should remian there. Peace.

Murray is good. Never thought anything of Sturm, Lemiuex (or the guys that beat him already Rubio and Alcine), Sylvester, or Geale, ever...I completely ignored that little short lived era of 160 because neither of them stood out when I did watch them in their prime. They remind me of the really weak 160 era that no one cared about, the post Pavlik, Abraham, Taylo, Winky era, after them that division turned cold as Elsa. It's picking up now, very, very slowly, with these new guys...GGG, Saunders, Jacobs, Eubank Jr, Canelo. But it still needs more clearing.

I've ony been watching and reading boxing for a couple years, but hopefully there is a few younger blokes come through because it will be tough comparing the greats in years to come how they compare. Like the article says.. Going to be tough to call ggg a 'great' until he starts beating the top calibre oppoments, starting with Alvarez.
