I don't really think that's comparable. Kovalev was an overwhelming favourite in their fight and Hopkins was 50, not 38 and not on a 11 year winning streak.

It isn't a legit excuse - People should have simply said Fury was the better man on the night, or Wlad didn't cope well with the style. Because that was the truth.

Yeah I guess we will. But if Fury wins again, we know that people will say he only beat an old Wlad. But in reality, that same Wlad would probably beat everyone else.

I think Klitschko is an ATG first ballot hall of famer. I don't like him & I never will. After all the bashing gone on by Klitschko fans towards others the last 7 years I been here I find it amusing now that he's lost they are silent. It took 1 loss to silence them. They have nothing to say now. The real reason the board is dry of threads about Wlad is the NON fans took the high road & respect klitschko's accomplishments & chose not to make the negative Klitschko threads. They humbled the nuthuggers. They can't worship a loser so they jump onto the Kovalev/GGG nuthugger wagon... That will all be silence when they lose too. There has been a pattern for 7 years...

And he clearly wasn't in his best shape ever, he might have trained really hard like always does, but physically he was better against Haye for example. We all get old and most are in denial about it when it's actually happening, I know I will be lol.

Anyway, I've given my props to Fury, beating a champion as dominant as Wlad was is impressive, wheter they were old or not.
Klit himself said that he was in the best shape of his life.

I believe Klitschko's all-around prime was against Pulev. Now it's just in the head that the battle takes place.

An yeah I forgot... Klitschko has to go through all the build-up of the second fight again...
            THIS ^^^^

I read an interview with Peter Fury where he spoke about this...

            http://www.boxingmonthly.com/stories...ighting-blood/

The path to the world title had a last-minute bump in the road when the defending champion picked up a calf injury in training. The contest was pushed back a month to allow him the chance to recuperate. Fury believes that the delay was engineered to test the challenger’s focus.

“It was just another stunt, basically, an attempt to ruffle us because if you’ve peaked at the right time only for the fight to be pulled you might overtrain. We found the balance and all these advantages were something we tried to negate. These are all tricks of the trade, ones that we won’t ever use because I don’t like it.

“I give Wlad maximum credit for fighting Tyson, though, because Haye wouldn’t even get into the ring with him. All we got from the Haye fights was a load of excuses. Apparently he can never fight again because of his injuries—a specialist told him that—but now he’s back. It’s a big joke.”

A master at pre-fight psychological warfare, Klitschko had little success with Fury. A screenwriter once wrote that the Irish are immune to psychoanalysis, mistakenly attributing the quote to Sigmund Freud.

There might be some truth to that claim if you apply it to the travelling community. Fury seemed to gain a pre-fight psychological edge over his opponent and remained unfazed when his team discovered that the ring had a lot of additional padding then found out that Wlad had wrapped his hands without the presence of a supervisor. Many saw this as a final attempt to rattle the challenger.

“You’re not going to get a psychological edge over Tyson, it will never happen as he’s a fighting man down to the soles of his boots,” argued Fury. “Tyson looks at any man with boxing gloves on as human, no one in the world can intimidate him. You can forget about it if you think you’re going to make him worried.”

The issue of the canvas was an entirely different matter, though.

“[Sky’s] Glenn McCrory said it made us look bad and we should have left it, people go over there with that attitude and that’s why Klitschko has reigned for so long. People don’t realise how much of a difference it makes. A softer ring would have effected Tyson’s movement. You don’t box on a beach, it’s not possible—that’s what the ring was like to begin with.

“I won’t allow tricks and all that (from my fighters) as it’s not in my makeup. I like it fair and square. If you can fight and you’re the best fighter on the planet then just use that. No tricks or games. We just wanted everything the way it should be, we asked for nothing out of the ordinary.

“The ring was still very soft, but it was doable. You should have seen the soles of Tyson’s feet at the end of the fight, the skin came right off them because of the soft ring. Tyson ended up with bandages on his feet. For three or four days he had to be helped in and out of his car, people don’t see that.”

Sorry I couldn't pick out single quotes but he covers a lot in there about the tricks that they played and why that contributed a lot to his long reign. Too many fighters just accepting whatever they say and going over with the wrong mindset but the Fury's took no ****, even making Klitschko take his wraps off before the fight and redoing them lol

This is why Team Fury is the best in boxing. They catch everything & take no ****. I remember Vitali would go in the dressing room & stand over wlad's opponent to intimidate him while they wrapped the gloves. Sometimes forcing them to rewrap. Team Fury did the same. They caught the padding in the ring. They had him rattled with the Batman press conference. Write from the signing of the contract it was Fury in control of the fight. Forced Wlad to delay & caught all the sneaky antics going on. They may not of been in control of the promotion but they controlled everything else...

I agree with your entire post minus the first sentence.

Klit's competition is nowhere near good enough to be awarded an ATG. Hall of Fame yes, ATG no.

                    How old are you, alt?

So by your logic, I would never have been here whilst he was beating a bunch of bums for 10 years.

Are you joking right ? We've had no news and minimal statements in three months, when the fight is announced and the fighters are genuinely in camp the Klitschko fan base will be stronger than Fury's.
