But ESPN and FOX haven't...and neither one won the NFL Thursday Night Football bidding war.

ESPN dropped out of the bidding process and FOX had what's been called a "token" bid.

There is a limit to how much networks can spend.

The NFL rakes in billions from TV. Boxing has a TON of room to grow... or should I say PBC has a ton of room to grow.

I understand that. My thing is, once those fights happen, what is there to look forward to? How long will they marinate so they can pull the million plus ratings by dragging them out.

They didn't even mention Postol Saturday night.

          Where'd you see $25M?
Must've missed it in the OP

            NFL will be just fine.

This isn't about "but...but...Haymon." This isn't about "but...but...Floyd." This is HBO continually drawing back their boxing budget despite increased subscription. A trend that has been going on from before PBC was even an entity. This is not good for boxing, this is very bad for boxing. We are talking about a budget that has been trending downward for over a decade. Crying about Floyd or Haymon (despite it being 70% of NSB's reaction to everything) isn't going to fix anything. HBO got cheap and has subsequently been outmaneuvered in the free market by competitors.

MLB plays 162 games a season (plus playoffs) so their cumulative gate revenues are crazy. I think Nippon league plays 152 or something.

Are you just talking about 2016 or HBO boxing in general?

I mean I doubt Crawford vs Postol is being built up as a big fight. I think that's more of an Arum thing.

In fact I don't think HBO is dragging out any of these fights. Think about it.

Canelo/GGG & Ward/Kovalev would both be end of 2016 anyway, because Canelo didn't want to fight Golovkin next and chose to fight Khan on PPV, and GGG was left to fight his mandatory in Wade since Saunders also declined. Likewise with Ward-Kovalev but Ward wants a couple tune-ups first. I'm positive HBO would have made these fight ASAP if Canelo/Ward would have actually agreed to fight next.
