Bob arum just said today that verdejo is more popular than cotto was at this stage and yea I agree but I credit that to verdejo bein basically the only fighter PR has right now. Cotto had much more skill though at this stage with him u saw great quick combos and counters he was better. Like I said I hope verdejo gets a new trainer while he's still young enough to learn new ****.
He wont get a new trainer, he's been with that guy since he was like 11.

Oh and he didn't dominate shit, he was clearly the better guy but that's it.
Yeah, dominate is too much. He clearly won, but there were maybe 1 or 2 rounds he dominated.

The kid is good but his transition is not fluid. Like Broner.

There is literally only one punch that was shown landing on the highlight reel, which is exactly the pattern I saw throughout the fight.

This kid didn't do ****, and you could tell by his own body language and his whole team after the final bell that they knew it too.
All I remember landing in this fight(I was pretty disinterested) was maybe a left hook in the second round by Verdejo and at one point glanced over to find an overhand in Verdejo's face by Silva. Other than that I only saw jabs and missed/blocked punches. Terrible fight and yea I saw the post fight "highlights", all blocked/missed punches.

I'm surprised Floydboys don't see this as a boxing lesson/domination and ass whooping by Verdejo on Silva though.

Well, that's how we got fighters like Martinez, Maidana, Matthysse.

                That's how Khan got Prescott'ed.

These obscure South Americandudes tend to upset people's favorite up and coming fighters.

                  One fight

                  Really guys,
The kid has one stinker and now everyone is crying that he is not the real deal. STYLES make fights this was obviously an opponent that has a style that does not mesh well with his. That being said the kid needs to learn to make adjustments when plan A doesn't work. But he is a very good fighter and no I'm not on the he's still a baby trip, he's a good fighter period.

Difference is that Floyd always lands those eye catching right hand counters and left hooks that even the guy at the top-back of the arena can see. He'll land at least three of those per round in his worst performance and land a lot of jabs to the stomach and the head just to drive home the point.

That's why his highlight reels are always so good and that's how he scores points. No judge can pretend he didn't see those pull counters, lead rights, and left hooks, and he continously lands the body jab and also the jab to the head.

Verdejo didn't jab for the most part, in fact the other guy jabbed more than he did. Think his team needs to work on that aspect of his game. A jab will set up many opportunities and even if it doesn't and you don't land a power shot in a round, you still got those scoring jabs going for you and if those jabs didn't land, you can still win the round on ring generalship cause at least you'll have stopped your opponent from engaging and therefore landing anything on you, by keeping him at bay with the jab.

Also remember that Floyd regularly lands at close to fifty percent of his power punches, Verdejo barely landed any at all throughout the fight.

It's quite an insult really to compare a guy who lands at that percentage to someone who didn't land at all (barely) no matter how much you hate the guy.

Having said all that, Verdejo has talent, athletically speaking, he is at the very top. However, that will all be rendered useless if his strategic aptitude and skill doesn't live of to the standards of his body.

I been telling people on the island for 2 yesrs straight that Verdejo has some serious flaws that are not being corrected but they still say " omg he is going to be better than cotto and tito combined" This kid is still 1-2 years away from real competition and if his flaws are not corrected he will end up more juanma than tito
