What the definition of outboxing someone ?

Seems on here that to outbox someone you have to be completely defence minded, throw minimal punches, and throw no power shots or combinations.

Now to me this doesn't seem right.

Outboxing someone to me is winning rounds without hurting your opponent.

Didn't Fenech outbox Nelson in the first fight

    Didn't Hatton outbox Tszyu ?

Boxing is HIT and not get hit.

Not, not get hit and then maybe hit if it's safe to do so.

Out smart them, set traps, range control, disarm them, frustrate them, take away what they do best....feints, angles, head and upper body movement, footwork, timing, stick, move. Masterclass boxing at its best baby!!!!!

        See Santa Cruz VS Mares.

Mares was holding on for dear life because he was getting severely outboxed.

That's all you can do sometimes when you're getting outclassed.

Out boxing is hitting your opponent while making your opponent miss it's not hit one time than hug, or hit one time, than run thats more like tag. Young Mike Tyson slipping the punch than smashing you or Pernell Whitaker is someone who out boxed many. Or Rigo is another who tags you than makes you miss

Mayweather vs Canelo, and JMM are great examples! Floyd has few fights where he just threw few punches, ran, and clinches! People would love to change history, but not on my watch!

Floyd became awful to watch in those last couple of fights, but he is old now! Floyd will stand mid range and capitalize on every single mistake you make! Whether he has to lead, counter, he mostly comes out and always throws the first punch, and stands in front of you in the first round!

Now the Nelo fight, he walked him down and put on a show! Thats called outboxing someone! What he did with Berto, and Marcos, was pure garbage but he is an old man now!

Pernell has four or five fights in his entire career where he almost looked similar to Floyd!

He used to win in ugly, sloppy, ways! Read my other comment on this thread!

Winning in a particularly boring fashion, using the rules of the sport/judging guidelines rather than really trying to win or finish the fight

Maybe that's not what it originally meant but thats how it's used 100% of the time nowadays

Guy A: Sorry man I'm gonna go do something else this sucks

Guy B: You just don't appreciate that he's outboxing him using the sweet science of slickness!
