Wilder and his people have a long history of always offering chump change to whoever fights him. Their excuse is the standard b.s. 'you have to pay your dues'. IOW my thinking is they just aren't offering Povetkin a respectable amount. A purse bid has an advantage for Povetkin and his people... the likelihood the fight does take place in Russia, and Povetkin could practically own the PPV market in Russia. Big chance Wilder drops the belt, but at least there's gonna be some more interesting press about this before it's over.

The split is always going to be 75-25 minimum in favour of the champion (if not more) just a matter of what the total pot actually is. That being said if team Wilder let it go to bids and then b1t** out using "were not going to Russia" as a excuse then Wilder really is a heartless Fraud, just been tryna make most cash fighting no hopers.

But if the fight takes place in any other country the split becomes 80% for the champion and 20% for the challenger.
Regardless, Wilder will get paid for this fight.
