Waddell and Reed didn't give up enough in their investment for Haymon to shell out more than Povetkin's folks in this ordeal, and a good number of us knew that was the case. I felt that Wilder could not let it go to purse bid, but the day slowly approaches.
Even if it means more money for Wilder, I'm leaning on him being reluctant to take that fight now. However, with Martin fighting Joshua on April 9th he can't fight any other top contender or champion out there.Comment

Unless I'm mistaken in the event of a purse bid the split is 75% for the champion and 25% for the challenger if the fight takes place in the champion's country.
But if the fight takes place in any other country the split becomes 80% for the champion and 20% for the challenger. The split is always going to be 75-25 minimum in favour of the champion (if not more) just a matter of what the total pot actually is. That being said if team Wilder let it go to bids and then b1t** out using "were not going to Russia" as a excuse then Wilder really is a heartless Fraud, just been tryna make most cash fighting no hopers.
A WBC purse split works like this:
Total purse is split 90/10, after deductions of sanction fee etc. The location doesn't matter, the winner of the purse bid has control of the location, network etc.
Of the 90%:
Champion is entitled to 70%
Challenger is entitled to 30%
The winner of the bout receives the 10% put aside before the split. So if you work that out, the Champion is entitled to 73% if he wins, the challenger is entitled to 37% if he wins.Comment

These are actually the WBO regulations regarding purse split, and I actually didn't know this. I guess you learn something new everydayComment

Haymon would be doing Wilder a disservice. Wilder has a significant height and reach advantage and given the amount of money he would make...you absolutely have to take that risk. Make the trip, get paid, win and come home the face of US boxing.Comment

Wilder shouldn't go to Russia and GGG shouldn't fight Canelo in Texas. These corrupt organizations shouldn't get big fights. Has everyone gotten amnesia? The WBC just threw out the results of the drug tests conducted during Povetkin's last fight. The WBC has stated they don't trust Russian boxing. There is no way the WBC will sanction this fight in Russia. And they shouldn't.Comment
