You mean like nobody asked Floyd why he won a Junior Middleweight belt at a catchweight below the limit and then went and defended that title for 2 years at 147 against welterweights instead of the full 154 limit against Jr Middleweights? Nobody asks because we just saw Floyd do this and Manny made a career out of this. And Oscar did it before him. The belt means nothing. These superstars are bigger then any belt they fight who they want, when, and at what weight they want. If you want to fight them it will be on their terms or not at all. Canelo found this out early his career and had to go down to a catchweight to make the big fight with Floyd otherwise there was no fight. GGG either does the same or he can wait until Canelo moves up to 160. But if he wants the big fight now it will be at catchweight. Canelo is the bigger star and has the better resume then GGG. GGG needs Canelo not the other way around.

Are you seriously trying to say a fight with J-Rock who NOBODY knows and has no fanbase earns Canelo as much money as a fight with Khan who is a huge attraction in the UK and has headlined big fights where as J-Rock is on the undercard or headlining fights tuesdays? His LAST fight was on FS1 toe to toe tuesday which avgs like 150k viewers. Khan last fight did like 1mil viewers. And you think guys like J-Rock attract the same amount of fans as Khan for a PPV? Nobody cares about ANYONE at 160 outside of GGG so Canelo should fight a 160 bum and do less PPV's and make less money to please you? Whether it's one sided is not the point anyone he fought likely would be one sided this is a stay busy fight in between fights with Cotto and GGG. This fight was taken because it is the most lucrative of the stay busy fights he was offered in May. What top level fighter is GGG fighting next? Khan is a better fighter then GGG's opponent who he admitted he never heard of before they offered him the fight. Khan is 2 division world champ and top ranked which is more then I can say for the bums GGG has fought.

Canelo is an attraction all to himself. He wouldn't have to pay J-Rock $8mill to fight him, so whatever amount Khan adds to this fight is more than lost paying him that much. J-Rock or somebody like that would've fought for less than a mill. Alvarez was about to fight Clottey last December, he's a complete non-draw. Lara was a non-draw when he fought Alvarez and Kirkland wasn't much of a draw either.

Of course a lesser known fighter he could pay less but he is also selling far less PPVs. Floyd fought guys like Guerreo and Berto and paid them far less then he paid Canelo and Manny to fight him. Canelo was considering fighting Clottey last year on a NON-PPV fight. His contract with HBO called for a regular HBO fight. That's why Kirkland fight was on HBO and not PPV. Canelo after beating Cotto is fighting on PPV the may date was always a PPV fight regardless who he chose. So why fight J-Rock or any unknown unproven fighter for less money then you make for fighting Khan who has a much bigger fanbase and name? He picked Khan for the money.

The interim fight was agreed by both parties. If GGG didn't want that then his team shouldn't of allowed it. And GGG spent years trying to fight Manny and Floyd who last I checked are BOTH smaller then Khan but fools like you didn't have a problem with either opponent. But Canelo fighting a bigger guy you have a problem with? I guess the same flip flop logic that allows you to defend a man who was willing to fight Chavez at 168 and is on record saying he would fight the top guys at 168 but when Ward called his bluff he enforced a catchweight of 164 for no reason other then I'm the A side so if you want to fight me it's at 164. Because idiot alpha belt organizations allowed him to defend it for 2 years straight at 147 weight limit and didn't enforce their own rules. Canelo has the best resume of any active fighter right now. Triple DDDuck and his fangirls are just jealous. Dude ducked Ward and never wanted to mention Lara. Now he's fighting another bum. Atleast Canelo's fighting someone with pedigree.

I don't feel Canelo-GGG is comparable to Floyd-Manny. Floyd and Manny both were megastars that the world tuned into see anytime either fought. They also had the personalities and storylines that made people that don't give a **** about boxing invest emotionally.

Canelo is the biggest name in the sport right now. Buy nowhere near tje level of a Floyd or Manny. There was a time when both guys could creep up on a million PPV buys fighting a broom handle. Canelo without a big-time dance partner only manages about 300K. And while GGG is a star in the hardcore community. He's still pretty much a nobody in the mainstream.

The time the fight is now. Personally, I don't see Canelo being talented enough to not be clipped in the next 3-5yrs of he continues to fight top competition. And there's no telling when age is gonna get GGG. Also, if he sticks to his guns and stays at middleweight until he collects all the belts. There's just not enough intriguing fights to keep everyone interested in him.
