How come nobody is asking him, as the WBC middleweight champion of the world, do you plan on defending your title against a middleweight?

Why are you holding on to the title if you don't plan on campaigning at middleweight?

Are you going to fulfill your mandatory obligation as a middleweight champion?

I can only imagine if Lebron James, Cam Newton or somebody else was pulling this type of **** in another more reputable sport. SMH
They really can't grill these fighters/promoters/managers/networks because they'll lose access. James and Newton couldn't get away with this because they're part of a league than grants credentials. There is no boxing league that grants credentials. It's up to the fighters and promoters and networks. If they don't like what you wrote they won't give you access. The few that could actually get away with grilling them and not using access work for the major media outlets like ESPN, YAHOO Sports, SI, and LA Times.

You mean like nobody asked Floyd why he won a Junior Middleweight belt at a catchweight below the limit and then went and defended that title for 2 years at 147 against welterweights instead of the full 154 limit against Jr Middleweights? Nobody asks because we just saw Floyd do this and Manny made a career out of this. And Oscar did it before him. The belt means nothing. These superstars are bigger then any belt they fight who they want, when, and at what weight they want. If you want to fight them it will be on their terms or not at all. Canelo found this out early his career and had to go down to a catchweight to make the big fight with Floyd otherwise there was no fight. GGG either does the same or he can wait until Canelo moves up to 160. But if he wants the big fight now it will be at catchweight. Canelo is the bigger star and has the better resume then GGG. GGG needs Canelo not the other way around.

Oh cut the bull****. Canelo rehydrates to 172 pounds on fight night. The same damn weight as GGG. He likely had a 15-20 pound ****ing weight advantage over Mayweather that night. Floyd was a welterweight who only moved up if the money was right. LOL @ trying to make this sound like some disadvantage when he two weight classes above Floyd in the ring.

"Waaah..he made me come down 2 pounds so it took away my 15 pound weight advantage. "

Floyd, Manny, Oscar or whoever never created their own damn weight class where they drained larger fighters and blew up little fighters. This is unprecedented in boxing history and some of the funniest **** I've ever seen in my life.

So, if he cant fight at 160, then why did he fight for the 160 title? If he holds the belt at middleweight, then he is the 160 lb champ, not the 155 lb champ, there is no championship available at 155 lb. Fight as a middleweight or fight at light middle its simpl !
There is no reason the Canelo cant weigh in at 155 lb, but he should not make any other fighter weigh in at that weight, the have the right to weigh in at 160 lb, that is the middleweight limit.

I would 100% rather see Canelo fighting J-Rock instead of Amir Khan who just struggled at 147 vs Chris Algeri.
None of those guys generate as much money for Canelo as a fight with Khan does. None are big names or headlined big fights before like Khan has. All those guys have proven little up to this point. Canelo has already fought all the best Jr Middleweight in the last half decade (Cotto, Floyd, Trout, Lara). So Canelo has proven himself. The real question is why aren't any of those guys you mentioned fighting each other? Or the Lara's, Cotto's ect. Canelo was given a volunatry defense which GGG signed off on and is fighting the biggest money fight available. I can't blame him for not fighting an unknown up and coming that won't generate money especially not after he just fought Cotto. This is basically a stay busy fight before they start up negotiations for GGG in Sept

I don't care what he re hydrates to. As long as he makes weight for the contract for the fight. You act like he's the first fighter to hydrate. Hell Maidana was fighting at 147 and getting as high as 170 yet nobody was saying he needs to move up to 154 and 160. And GGG was calling out Manny and Floyd saying he can fight at 154 even saying it's easy for him to make that weight. His words NOT mine. So why can't he make 155? Fact is Canelo is not a full middleweight has NEVER weighed 160 on scale and has NEVER fought a full middleweight. I could care less about that belt he won ONLY because Cotto fought a catchweight and then didn't vacate using it for negotiations purpose only. Neither Cotto or Canelo are full middleweight. Canelo is fighting 1 pound above JMM. If GGG wants to fight Canelo now he has to fight him at HIS WEIGHT. Or shut up and get a vacated belt. Belts mean nothing. Floyd enforced the catchweight over Canelo and NOT Cotto the year before. Why? Because he could. Why did GGG enforce a catchweight over Ward but not Chavez? Because he could. Only difference is Canelo doesn't look like a liar and hypocrite because unlike GGG he has NEVER called out fighters in different weight classes and told them I will go to your weight to fight you. Like GGG did saying he will go to 154 or 168 but when fighters called his bluff he refused.

Canelo cares about the belt because if he didn't he would of vacated it. The whole situation is laughable and I can't wait to see how it gets handled after May 7th. GGG is the mandatory and has no obligation to agree to a catchweight.

If he takes step aside dollars again then that's on him and I can no longer defend him.

You can't have it both ways... Either you're a warrior who ducks no one and takes on all comers... Or you make "business" decisions.

By any logic - outside that of a lunatic asylum or a boxing forum - the lineal MW champion of the world must be a MW.

Canelo hasn't fought at 160 by his own choice. He was given time by K2 and Golovkin to take another fight before his mandatory and again, by his own choice, he is fighting at 155 instead of 160.

It's time to stop making excuses for him. If he doesn't want to defend his MW titles at the sanctioned MW limit, he should say so now and relinquish them.
