offering GGG a CW at a weight GGG said he can make easy is not a duck, is a bad move from canelo and very unprofessional since he has the mw title, but not a duck... ggg not accepting canelos CW isn't a duck either, no one wins in this situation, hopefully they fight at 160 soon, I want canelo to take full credit after beating GGG...

Lil G needs to understand that at 34 yrs old his prime is winding down and he needs a big name on his resume more than another belt. Fact is Canelo doesn't need Lil G or the WBC title to make millions, his Mexican fanbase will support him with or without the belt.
No they wont, Mexicans are smart fans and will see right through Canelos bull**** and willl call him a coward.

Canelo the WBC middleweight champion! What a joke! The fraud is yet to fight a real middleweight and his next fight is against a welterweight. Canelo has no honor and should not be referred to as anything to do with middleweight division. He is a disgrace to the past and current middleweight champions.

The blown up welter was the MW champion, and the cash cow of his era. I guess you don't see the resemblance. The blown up welter got Hopkins to come down, and Floyd to leave his promoter and come up to 154. That's not only what the great ones do, it's what the smart ones do. GGG doesn't have to do anything, but if he wants to be one of the greats, then he should do what the great ones have done, win championships in multiple weight classes:

              April 20, 2014:

In his third reign with a 175-pound title, Hopkins, who dropped Shumenov in the 11th round, retained his belt for the second time and added another strap, making him the oldest fighter in history to unify titles.

"Another page of history that I hope you don't get bored with," Hopkins said. "Money is great, but history is something that you can never get rid of and act like it didn't happen. I'm glad to [unify titles]."

It was yet another record for Hopkins. As a middleweight, he set the division record with 20 title defenses and also became the first fighter to unify all four major alphabet belts. In recent years, he has also set various age-related records, including oldest boxer to hold a world title (49), oldest to win a world title -- he did that twice, at age 46 and 48 -- and oldest to successfully defend a world title (49)

So GGGs path to stardom is beating a blown up welterweight at 158? Thats when you will give him credit?

I respect Bernard for what he's done but Oscar was a naturally smaller opponent in a non-mandatory money fight; losing weight for a massive payday was therefore not unreasonable. Conversely, Bernard moving up to beat a prime Tarver, now that's the stuff of champions.

With Canelo, we have a belt holder, who's slightly bigger than the challenger, demanding a severe CW for a mandatory defense against a guy who most consider THE best MW on the planet. Because I only care about exciting fights being made with no interest regarding how much money he's making, I see it as Canelo being the one who needs to step up and behave like a champion, not GGG. Yes, Canelo isn't the only diva in boxing who's done this, but precedent doesn't justify the fact that it just stinks. It's disrespectful to the sport and the MW heritage.

Well said THC, I'm sure many will agree with your post. I'm to the point where I wish GGG would call Canelo and Golden Boy on their ploy and drop the nickle and KO Canelo if front of millions, catch weight be damned.

He can start working his way down right after Wade as it is 3.5 below is usual weigh-in. I'm wondering if all the haters would finally give him some credit?
