Where do you keep getting this info that 155 is middle weight? Do some research dummy. The point of the weigh ins is to make sure they are on the mark for weight, not within the weight range.

If that were the case then tell GGG to shut his pie hole and stop calling out fighters at 154 and 168 and telling the world he is willing to go to both weights to fight for big money fights NOW. Either shut up and stay in your lane at 160 and unify belts and stop collecting step asides. Or do what you said you would and fight at 154 or 168 to get the big money fights. He created this drama NONE of these fighters at 154 or 168 mentioned him first or mentioned fighting at 160. No matter how you try to spin this GGG is a walking contradiction. He's either a hypocrite or a full blown liar. Because you can't cry that catchweights are bad and complain that someone is enforcing one on you when all last year you screamed to Ward I'm the A side so you have to fight me at a catchweight or no fight when he was responding to you calling out 168lbers. Now the shoe is on the other foot and you want me to feel sympathy for GGG? SMH

Canelo don't need GGG or that belt. If he wants a fight with Canelo it will be at his weight because he has lots of options and all the leverage. He's where you want to be he's the big fish you come to him he doesn't have to come to you.

The fight was likely the highest grossing fight in the last decade that didn't include Mayweather or Pacquiao. So the notion that belts matter is ridiculous.
Belts haven't mattered for a very long time:

        September 19, 2004:

As Hopkins, 39, celebrated with a somersault and a leap onto the ropes, De La Hoya pounded the mat in frustration, knowing that he had lost the fight that he said would define his career...

The victory doubtless gave Hopkins the respect he believed the boxing establishment denied him despite 18 successful defenses of his middleweight titles

Meanwhile, De La Hoya knew that despite winning eight titles in six weight classes since turning pro in 1992 and despite generating more pay-per-view business than any non heavyweight, this would be is most important fight.

        http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/19/sp...hoya.html?_r=0

What if Hopkins wouldn't have accepted that catch-weight? Yet at 39, he did! No one cared about the 18 defenses, it was the De La Hoya fight that brought him the recognition he deserved! This is what champions do!

You forget just how many Mexican fans have adopted Golovkin, a huge addition to his fan base. Just check out the crowd that sold out in LA, most chanting for GGG.

I know that Canelo has a huge following but by him backing out of his title defense, he will lose fans period and as another poster mentioned above, it will be remembered, especially by boxing writers and historians. Golovkin will end up as undisputed champ and then move on to a higher weight class and begin his collection(Or attempt to collect ) of belts there.

You sound dumb. Mexican fans don't support GGG like Canelo if they did GGG would be fighting on PPV in April instead of regular HBO. If they did then GGG wouldn't of flopped the one time HBO gave him a PPV. last year And you think Mexicans are going to turn on Canelo if he doesn't fight GGG at 160? Dude please. Watch how many PPV's he sells against Khan. Canelo has just fought Trout, Mayweather, Angulo, Lara, Kirkland, Cotto he's fought enough tough fights that his fans will not crucify him if he doesn't want to immediately move up to 160. Floyd and Manny refused to fight each other for like 6 years and NEITHER of their fanbases turned on them and they were fighting at the same weight. But you think Mexicans are going to turn on Canelo for not fighting GGG immediately at 160? Come back to reality. Look at Canelo's resume which takes a huge dump on the bums GGG has fought and Canelo is only 25 and the cash cow in boxing. GGG needs Canelo far more then Canelo needs him. And that fool is already on record saying he will fight at 154 so he looks like a total liar if he backs out a fight at 155. Canelo has NEVER said he's fighting at 160 and hasn't yet faced a full 160lber. He makes 155 pretty easily. He can stay there and fight numerous guys for big money and trust his fans will still show up in herds. While GGG can fight for peanuts and his fans can debate on why GGG at 34 still ain't fought nobody worth a damn and why he called out guys at 154 and 168 and BACKED out of big money fights at both weights.

I thought the WBC ordered the winner of Canelo-Cotto to fight Golovkin. They did not follow through.

I didn't say GGG had as many Mexican fans as Canelo, I said he has a lot of Mexican fans and that number grows with each outing. As for Canelo not fighting full 160 lb guys, you endorse him weighing 175 lbs on fight night against what amounts to a 140-147 lb fighters? That has been his MO all along, fighting small guys(Cotto, Lopez, Rhodes, Gomez and the list goes on) and him outweighing them by 20+lbs on fight night. Its moronic and unfair!

Either fight in the MW division or dump the belt and move back down to 154 and fight there. Otherwise lets see what he does against a guy who can put his lights out and is his same weight? And if he is too chicken **** to do that then give up the belt and go fight 140-147 lb guys, but he will not hold a meaningful Championship belt in the MW division, that goes thru GGG.

According to Pac and Floyd recent ppv #s b4 they fought. .fans did turn on them...so it could happen to Canelo soon..and 154 to 168 doesn't mean 155..it means 154/160/168..doesn't mean 164 either ..canelo can't hide at 155 for to long..his body won't take it..as for resume ..Canelo should had fought one of those MW bums in 3G resume instead of a WW on may 7..but he trying to look great with a KO and have another NAME on his resume even if it's a WW..both mismatches but Canelo pick khan a WW ..Wade is 3G mandatory..
