I wouldn't call it a great fight since both guys are not proven in the slightest, but is a good opportunity for both to start to prove their worth, for a world title.

I agreed with your post, until I added the bold.....

Just because he was rated 43 means absolutely NOTHING, all that means is that he was a fighter waiting for a Opportunity, doesn't mean he wasn't any good
I have to agree people like Loma, Wilder, Joshua, Verdejo, H Fury, Spence, Valdez should not be worring about title most of those guys are still young , all they need is to fight more, and get lots of tv time

      • AJ should beat Martin but what happens after he wins? AJ is still a prospect and has never fought a top 10 fighter. I'm not sure he's ready for the best yet but if he wins the belt he has to fight all comers..

        • Why do people hate Martin? He was clearly beating Glazkov, so it can't be that fight!
If I had to choose, I'd take Joshua but this is a good match up.

          • Props to Fury for getting rid of the boogy man.

            • The truth is Martin had to take this fight and had to take it in the UK. He is almost completely unknown to the whole world so he won't be bringing in any money on PPV for any of the big TV companies. They would would have thrown him a few pennies if he fought one of the title holders, but he would have been the z side let alone the b side when it comes to purse split. The only logical path would be to fight the biggest upcoming name in the HW division to possibly make a few million $ and make a name for himself if he performs reasonably well.

There isn't another fighter out there that can offer him that sort of pay packet, even when you include the current belt holders. Win or lose he's done well for himself.

That IBF belt is about as paper as you can get. If you don't want to recognise that WBO belt because it wasn't held by the true heavyweight champion then fair enough, but you have to be consistent and apply the same rule to Martin's IBF belt.
It's a legitimate belt, whether it's a paper belt or not.

The WBO was nothing but a mickey mouse belt when Michael Bennt won it. It has nothing to do with it being held by the true champion or not - the belt wasn't considered part of the unison of the heayweight championship.

Tyson won his WBC belt off Berbick, also not the "real" champ, yet still a legit belt.
