Props to Martin. He is not only taking this fight on his first defense but he's doing it on the home turf of the challenger. Majority of champions do the opposite.

Too soon for Joshua, Martin should capitalise on that. Great fight.

Fantastic opportunity for Joshua here. Imagine him and Fury unification fight? That'd be extremely big in UK.

Interesting fight! We dont realy know how good Martin is. What we do know is that Joshua was in serious trouble against Whyte though...he can be happy that Whyte gassed out early. I would not bet on this one.

Yea Charles martin is a deserving Champion A One Class

Sandez-Love-Dallas-Mccreary-Manswell-Pedro-Flores 7 opponents of Charles martin.

Martin has fought all bums and is a nothing but got a heavyweight title belt. Go figure that out. Sandez-Love-Dallas-Mccreary-Manswell-Pedro-Flores are all Martin opponents before that gimp weak Glaskov wimped out in three. Joshua KO'd Martin gets his Title belt and the UK has 2 Heavyweight champions which is great for boxing. Martin is like a Hobo or some tramp that stumbled into boxing and got a free belt. What a hoot. Boxing is a joke.

That IBF belt is about as paper as you can get. If you don't want to recognise that WBO belt because it wasn't held by the true heavyweight champion then fair enough, but you have to be consistent and apply the same rule to Martin's IBF belt.
The WBO wasn't really recognised as a major title at this time

Charles Martin isn't exactly a high-ceiling kinda fighter - what you see is what you're gonna get.

Joshua, a heap of potential, but still raw, very raw. Not sure about the chin, his footwork is far from a masterclass, and while he's got pretty incredible power, it's still lumbering.

I don't expect Martin to hold onto the strap, Joshua is right to be the favorite, but this is a bigger risk for Joshua than I immediately thought. If he doesn't take the strap, then people are going to be all over his camp for exposing him too early.

They will be savaged, and (correctly) labeled as amateur/inept.

Just because he was rated 43 means absolutely NOTHING, all that means is that he was a fighter waiting for a Opportunity, doesn't mean he wasn't any good

That is what I am worried about.

There will be calls, especially in the UK, for him to fight Fury next.

He may not be a popular champion if he refuses to fight Fury or the Wilder/Povetkin winner..... and I don't think he's ready for those fights just yet.

A week ago, many were saying that he is not even ready for Parker.

True, but he wants the money.
