none that i can think of, the only guy's that come close are 'mini mike tyson' gerald mcclennan, but then again he was not able to finish nigel benn, whereas michael watson a much more feather fisted boxer took him out.

Foreman probably comes 3rd, his punches seemed so slow but they generated a massive kind of thudding power.

No one had one punch/all round power like tyson, in those few years in the late 80's he was the best ever..
A large contributing factor was the way he developed the explosive power from his feet, his bobbing/frazier esque movement.

Kovalev hits harder as he pierces through the target causing more permanent damage.

Tommy Morrison could crack with that left hook. I don't know if if it hit harder than Tyson or not but it was def one of the better hooks you'll see. He had power in both hands but that hook was a game changer if he could land it.

I'd say Foreman def hit harder and probably Tua. Tua was a scary dude back in the day.

Mcclennan moved up in weight for that fight, dropped Benn in the first round, if the fight was not in the UK, they probably would have stopped the fight.
The ****** ref gave Benn extra time in the round also, he kept getting in the action, G-Man would have got the KO if Steve Smooger or Frank Cappachino was ref. They screwed G-Man.

          Shavers
          Foreman
          Liston
Those 3 for sure, there are many others, Tyson was the hardest hitter, that also was fast and threw great combos.
He had power, but he set up the KO with body shots and uppercuts.
His defense was great in the Catskill days, the peek a boo style worked great for the short heavyweight, he was always in position to throw a punch.
But the reason Tyson was so good, he could KO you with both hands (at any time), no other HW ever had his arsenal (right hook, left hook, uppercut, body then uppercut).
The punches also came from different angles because Mike was short.
I would take Tyson 87-88 version (with Kevin Rooney) vs any fighter ever, the kid was a force, he wanted to kill you, I'm actually surprised he never Killed a boxer as hard as he hit. Good thing that McNeely's corner stopped the fight when they did and Golota quit (he had a broken back and fought a round before he quit, glad he quit).

Tua's left hook? A thing of beauty.

Tua's the only fighter I'd say categorically hit harder than Tyson, but only then on the left hook. Guys like Lennox, Wlad, Morrison etc could match Tyson for power but they never showed the ability to devastate opponents in quite the same way. Tyson really was a phenom in that department.

How was Tyson not a great puncher? Justify that statement.

And justify why you think a bum beating cruiserweight like Shavers punched harder than him without talking about how so and so called him the hardest puncher ever etc.

Shavers has nothing on Tyson except a bunch of quotes by guys he didn't knock out. That he's still talked about as one of the hardest punchers ever only shows how easily led boxing fans are willing to let themselves be.

I get your meaning though. He was really no bigger than the greats of much earlier eras, like Dempsey, Louis, and Marciano.
Tyson was considerably thicker set than all three of those guys you mentioned. His height and limb length might have been comparable but his musculature and frame were not.

People get caught up in myths e.g. "omg Shavers!!!"

his punching power is up there, its not a myth, its not just quotes, anyone can watch holmes getting dropped by that monster shot. He was out for a split second there.

He was a top 10 heayvweight of his day, thats it. You guys are mixing up one trait, punching power, with over all ability and wondering why Shavers hasnt KOed as good of fighters as Lennox, Foreman and Tyson have? Well gee ****ing wiz maybe because those other guys are better more complete fighters than Shavers.

Some people said shavers hit harder than tyson and a select few jump in like its a complete impossibility, like someone just said chris byrd hits harder than tyson or something.
