Is Dominic Wade just as good as Sulivan Barrera?

They both have a similar Pro record. To me they are pretty even in terms of rankings, opposition and skills(barrera edged it here though).

then my real question is...Why are there so many people bashing on GGG, and not Ward?
Just beacuse this is Ward second fight at LHW he gets a pass?

Ward has been out of the ring for so long people are just happy he's fighting again. Plus the idea is he's fighting Kovalev later.

Golovkin is due for a big fight so naturally it's disappointing he's fighting a guy of Wades caliber. Obviously GGG wanted Canelo and Saunders, couldn't secure either and now has to fight his mandatory. It's not a good fight but he doesn't have any other option unfortunately. Likewise the idea is he's going to fight Canelo later but lots of people are skeptical Canelo has the courage to fight him.

Wade's wins over Soliman & Brinson are better quality opponents than anyone Barrera's faced. Murat was Barrera's best opponent and he's crap. Wade had a surprise KO over Marcus Upshaw who's generally a solid journeyman.

However in terms of match-ups, Barrera looks to be much better vs Ward than Wade is vs Golovkin. Wade might get the Lajuan Simon treatment where Barrera could give Ward a Bika-battle.

Both stand no chance and should get KO'd unless Ward isn't Ward, which is likely he'll still show up with room for improvement which makes it a more interesting bout. That said Barrera is a bit better than Wade too.

Barrera's a bigger challenge due to Ward moving divisions and having more experience. Wade can surprise us, but he's a 25 year old kid.

i think this reasoning is closest to the truth... and also in general i think GGG is becoming more and more famous and notorious so he is bound to get more scrutiny and hate.

We would all by lying if we said we really knew much about either guy. I doubt any of us has watched either guy more than twice. Wade is a mandatory...Barerra is a tune up. We'll see.

Paper accomplishments don't tell you much about fighters this early in their career. Just discuss what you've seen so far from each fighter and how they match-up against their next opponent.

I look at the 2 matchups, I see Ward as a more vulnerable fighter since he's moving up in weight, has been inactive will probably show ring rust. He is fighting an inexperienced contender who has a size and power advantage over him and who actually campaigned at cruiser when he began his career. So really it's just wanting to see how well Ward will deal with the physicality of a full fledged LHW since Ward likes to tussle inside and get rough.

Wade was a promising prospect but has been unimpressive so far as a pro. Some attribute that to fighting down to his level of opposition but we will see how he does when he steps up. He's been dropped before and caught a few times from being careless which he can ill afford to do against GGG. Most feel he lost against Sam Soliman but he is such an ugly style matchup how do you even score those fights? Obviously he has some potential though with his amateur pedigree and his appearances on Friday Night Fights and ShoBox.
