Supposedly, andre ward is pound for pound number one according to some here, and these guys are hyping up his opponent who doesn't even have a best win, whose career consists of mostly 6 and 4 round fights.

Why is this Barrera kid getting so much praise for doing absolutely nothing, against absolutely nobody? How is he even a challenge?

Oh, he has youtube videos. Cool. So what exactly makes makes a prospect with 17 fights such a dangerous foe? Spare me the amateur talk. Most Cubans suck as pros.

I personally don't have a problem with Barrera as Ward next opponent but you have a lot of guys on here calling another, higher ranked fighter a bum because of their dislike for you know who.

Barrera is a decent fight for ward. The guy beat pascal imo. It's better than wards recent opposition and the other possible opponents they've named.

It's his amateur record. Oh but as soon as GGG's name gets mentioned, amateur stuff doesn't matter in the pros.

I think Barrera is a decent opponent and I am not a Ward fan but fair is fair. Barrera is rated in the top ten by most of the alphabet groups and they seldom agree on anything. If he can get them to all agree he is top 10 worthy then he probably is top 10 worthy. The only fighters with a responsibility to fight top 10 contenders are world champions. They have a responsibility to give worthy challengers a chance to take their title. Ward isn't a champion and has no such responsibility but he is fighting a top 10 guy. Any fight fan who praises Barrera as Ward's next opponent but trashes GGG's next opponent is a total hypocrite. GGG is fighting a young undefeated fighter who is ranked 2nd in the world by the organization GGG is champion of. He is at least as good as Barrera.

Truth. Both fights are ok and this is coming from a GGG fan. Ward fans are hyping his fight with Barrera into some high accomplishment.

You're thinking of Yunieski Gonzalez the other Cuban LHW. Gonzalez is ideally the caliber of opponent that I thought Andre Ward should should have fought after Smith but he lost after the Pascal match to someone else so that put an end to that.
