As I said, Pascal/Kov happened because nobody else in top10 took the match. How hard is that to understand? What was the alternative? Sit and do nothing?
Chocolatito is fighting a top10 opponent next. With Estrada's outrageous money demands and Inoue saying he's not ready, they're all one as good as another.
Ward's moving into a new[ish] division after a long layoff. Give him a break before throwing him to the wolves. The fight is solid. Look at the LHW list. There were 3 possible names for him - Barrera, Shabransky and Beterbiev. Considering he has a 3 fight contract with Kov at the end, 2 of those 3 should be in the front. It makes sense to start with Barrera, especially with Artur coming off should surgery.
Postol just won a title, and they should give him a decent defense before throwing him back to the wolves.
And no, he should not mandate any fight. We already have diva fighters picking fights, 4 abc organizations with 30 belts each mandating fights. Last thing we need is to have the television network mandating fights.
The network's responsibility is to assist in promoting fighters and make sure they make a profit.

Fighters can't fight top talents all the time. If they did there would be no top talents left for them to fight. Crawford and Postol are both undefeated, of course they're both going to want to build up to a fight that people besides hardcore fans will tune in to see. Part of the point of showcase fights, besides keeping guys in shape, focused on the sport, and paid, is to show the fighters off to the public so they actually know who the guys are when big fights happen.
Nelson isn't hitting home runs, but it's the first half of 2016 and we've already heard assurances of bigger and better fights coming for the end of the year, like Ward-Kovalev and Canelo-Golovkin. I don't think that Crawford-Lundy is a horrible match, for example. If I was in NYC I would definitely pay to see it.
Overall, I would say three or four stars is a fair score. Bradley-Pacquiao and Canelo-Khan are interesting if not blockbuster PPV fights, I'll probably pay to see both of those too.

Thats a myth... Mma has no problems in making the best matchups, especially their champs.. Their is always a new threat emerging if contenders and champs are forced to fight tough..

HBO is a network. It's not their job to tell fighters to get some balls and take the riskiest fight. Very often it would not even be in their best interests to get the 2 best fighting immediately. Their job is not to put on bad fights and to make money. They've accomplished their objective - the fights they put on are consistently against top10 or top20 contenders.
This is a also troll thread because Nelson has been on the job for a couple of months - it's wayyyy to early to grade anything. You've also conveniently put a may cut off on the fights. What about the HBO-mandated Ward/Kovalev fight? What about the Chocolatito/Estrada2 that's rumored for mid-year? What about Wlad-Fury rematch that may possibly break one of their careers? What about Canelo/Golovkin fight that should happen in Sept?

And no, they should not make TC/Postol fight immediately. Those are #1 and #2 in the division. If they fight immediately, then what are they gonna do afterwards?
Regards to Ruenroeng, I didn't know about that, but honestly I do not blame Roman for not taking that fight, ever. I've read articles and watched that guy fight. He's ultra dirty and has a god awful reputation. Wasn't he like a convict or something?
Shabransky may be better than Barrera, he may not be. They're both unproven, undefeated and highly rated. Ward chose Barrera. If HBO started nitpicking between them and refused to televise the Barrera fight, the whole industry would go into chaos. They didn't show the Ward/Smith matchup. But refusing Barrera/Ward in favor of Shabransky/Ward? That's ******ed. Your problem is with Ward, not HBO.
This thread is based on assumption that HBO should refuse some of these fights. That's a ridiculous concept. If you want to try to fault someone, blame the fighters or the alphabet organizations.
So don't have the 2 best JWW fight each other, have them fight someone else. ARe you serious? Here's what they do (depending on how the fight goes and the damage each sustains)afterwards-the winner fights the next top contender and the loser fights someone to try and get back to the top spot.
You are really disappointing me dude. How can you make an excuse like this. Ruenerong (sp) is a top contender and would be a tough test. So what if Chocalito might lose?
How would the whole industry go into chaos? The point(which you keep trying to avoid) is that Shabrynsky is perceived by most to be the better opponent and would be more appreciated by fans.
No the thread isn't. The thread asks a direct question regarding the head of HBO and what they have planned for the year so far. You seem to not want to criticize, for whatever reasons, when clearly these are not the best fights and in most cases are garbage fights.
