Because it's very common knowledge that the Ukraine and majority of Eastern Europe is extremely racist. I doubt his father said he's a black man and from the United states of America.

Relax this doesn't mean that Kovalev is racist as he is obviously more travelled and worldly.

Yeah, but to my knowledge neither Vasyl nor his father have ever made any racist comments or displayed any racist tendencies - you can't just assume someone's a racist because of where they come from, can you?

Besides, it isn't quite that clear cut. The majority of Eastern Europeans are simply indifferent to black people I suspect, despite there being some elements that are rabidly intolerant.

i dont know how racism got into this thread but a lot of eastern European people are proud of their nationality and they are proud of athletes that are the same national background, this is nothing to do with race/skin color.

on a side note, are you guys noticing a trend with eastern European fighters trying to unify divisions. GGG, Kovalev, Lomachenko

It's pretty well known that, Russia is largely racist as is the majority of the eastern block. I've never seen Vassal's father. You may not outwardly admit that you categorise people we all do. If you went to the middle of an extremely deprived area any where in the world You'd be weary of the people there not because they are bad but because of the likelyhood of theft or other crimes occurring people aren't always bad in these circumstances they're usually products of their environment.

I figure I'll chime in since I have first hand experience.

Russians are seen to be racist, but what they actually are are very, very su****ious people. If they don't know you, they'll dislike you. That goes against other white people, hispanic people, different nations, neighborhoods, haircut, anything. The cultural history has made them that way.

But they are not really racist. Once they know you, or rather interact with you, all the skepticism vanishes in seconds. They will form easy friendships with all races and become loyal, steadfast friends.

Ah, so what you are saying is that all Eastern Euro's are the same racist stereotype.

Of course they see color. They can see shapes and numbers, they're not blind or ******. Racism is something that comes after.
