Oh I don't know. Probably because a little over a year ago you were saying that Kovalev only has a puncher's chance against Hopkins.

Now your story is that Golovkin would deserve no credit if he beats him, even if he's outweighted by 20 pounds because Hopkins is old. Going from 50 to 51 has REALLLY aged Hopkins.

I did not so much because of Hopkins but I didn't have much faith in Kovalev. So yeah, that's not a good reason. How can you look at Hopkins throwing 50 punches through seven rounds and say he's extremely good? Hindsight is called hindsight for a reason. Let's use it.

They're not making him do anything. He was looking for a title shot at 168, aiming for Ring #1 Abraham. Nsb didn't have a problem with that.

Its not bigger but HBO will promote it more because its a very winnable fight for GGG and they can celebrate Hopkins. If it happens it happens but I notice you do not see One Punch or J0zef and others talking about unification, which they always do when the topic of GGG fighting above 169 is being discussed.

because there is nothing to talk about. GGG-Hops is NOT a serious conversation. GGG is trying to get his unifications done (canelo.... saunders), and any talk of 168 fights at this point is just talk, no more, no less......

Whether Team GGG is "playing around" or not. The fact that he had the nerve to open up his mouth and say Hopkins is a bigger fight than Ward is grounds for criticism. And ita borderline pathetic.

But he probably is at this point. Ward has made himself totally irrelevant and the butt of jokes, see this Barrera drama, Rohan Murdock, 4th best Smith brother, etc. Needs 3 tuneups for Kovalev, 50 year old Hopkins needs zero

Probably because it doesn't make much sense and doesn't seem likely. I don't think he's joking there's probably reasons behind everything he says, he's a promoter, but regardless numerous things would have to happen in order for this fight to take place:

-Golovkin is still fighting his mandatory next.
-Hopkins is looking to fight real soon as well.
-Canelo/Golovkin talks would have to fall apart again later in the year.
-Saunders/or whoever might beat him v Golovkin talks would have to fall apart.
-HBO would have to be willing to pay for this fight.


I'm not a fan of Leoffler thinking or talking about this fight. I think comments like these don't help Golovkin at all. If he's honestly thinking that maybe this is a good fight, he's ******. If he's using it for some other reason like to show Golden Boy/Canelo Golovkin has plenty of options by going after another Golden Boy fighter, well that's pretty ****** as well.

I don't want to hear anymore BS about unification. Its nothing more than empty rhetoric to deflect from criticism. Its sickening to read post after post using this as a justification for making crap fights when its obvious Loeffler (as he should) would drop the goal as soon as a winnable, high profile fight like bhop came up.

Bernard Hopkins has been saying he's interested in a GGG fight for a while now...

We didn't really take it seriously at first but the man is out to prove something before he leaves the sport. He made that clear with the Kovalev fight so I have no doubt that Legacy is important to Hopkins and he truly wants to test himself (even at his age!) and show all these newcomers how things were done back in his day.

Respect to Hopkins, as much of a mis-match this is, you gotta give him credit. I truly think he admires these types of fighters, he even said something along the lines of "If only I had been putting guys to sleep in the ring instead of at home on the couch, things would have been different." etc.
