Where do people get the idea that Khan is some master boxer that can't be outboxed?

Agreed but if you are winning rounds and not hurting your opponent you're outboxing them aren't you ?

You don't necessarily have to be a defensive wizard to outbox someone.

As far as him being relevant, people seem to apply double standards to Khan and act like other fighters have had to have a string of big wins or a marquee win over a huge name to get big fights.

It just doesn't happen. Other guys have got big fights beating the likes of Berto, Lopez, Prov and casamayor and with much weaker overall resumes than Khans.

It's not a good thing but it's the way boxing is nowadays.

i agree, khan really shouldnt get this much attention, but he's about to fight canelo in a ppv and you just made a thread about him on a popular boxing site.

This fight is as irrelevant as Floyd/Berto. Berto had done nothing to get a shot like that. The only thing that he will be remember if anybody does is that it was Floyd's last fight if he never fights again.

It amazes me really, from the losses that have all gone unavenged, under performing in fights he was expected to shine in, it's mindboggling. So many WWs I'd favor to beat Khan too. I hope Canelo ends all this.

Gatti/Ward was entertaining but it did not define the weight class. Plus those two guys were matched evenly because they were at similar weights for a long time.

This is a huge jump to one of the best fighters in the world. I do not see in a boxing stand point any justification for this fight

And I'm telling you I agree that it's not justified in terms of athletic merit, but we're disagreeing on what makes a fighter relevant in the sport, which often doesn't rely as much on accomplishment or ability as simple support from a fanbase and promoters, etc. This is one of those cases. Khan is evidentially a very relevant fighter, but yes, it stinks that he's as relevant as he is-which is enough to get this match when the appropriate match has been stalled another in a long line of times at middleweight. He doesn't deserve a shot, but he's relevant enough to get a shot he doesn't deserve by any means.
